"Map not registered" and "Destinator SDK not for sale" messages *UPDATED*

I know you had it easy in the last few versions, but I can no longer provide a modified SDK with Map Monkey.

The on-screen message "Destinator SDK not for sale" and the message "Map not registered" when you try to open maps larger than 3mb are appearing because you are using a demo/unlicensed copy of the Destinator SDK.

You have a few options...

1. Wait around 2 weeks for the official PowerLoc PC version of destinator and buy that. This will include the required DLL to use with Map Monkey

2. Wait for me to sort it out with PowerLOC so I can include the SDK and maybe become a reseller so you can purchase everything you need from me.

The DestDLL.DLL from any previous version of the "Destinator Frontend" will work fine (Although I no longer provide a download or support it). Just make sure you have a license to use it. I strongly recommend you stay legal with this.

Here's a basic rundown of what you need to get Map Monkey working

Maps

You obviously need to purchase some maps to get any sort of useful functionality out of Map Monkey. For the US I've heard about a trial version of destinator that includes the full maps for $15. Someone needs to check the legality of using these maps before I start giving links though.

For the UK, you can purchase the maps here for £72

Most other maps (including US) can be purchased at stores like this

The "Major Road of..." maps, while being cheap, aren't very good for normal routing as they're most likely to only show highways/motorways and have very little detail. You should only purchase these if you regulary make long trips (particulary the US, where the maps are split into several zones...having the major roads map makes it easy to route across them)

SDK

This now needs to be purchased and can be obtained here. You might aswell buy the cheapest support option, seeing as you aren't going to be doing any development with it that will require support. That will be $50.

There's still some confusion with this at the time of writing. When you purchase the SDK, you will be emailed the same trial version you already have. Ignore this and send an email to rkassam@hstcglobal.com stating you have purchased the SDK and require the DestDLL_08_05.zip file. When you receive this, overwrite the DLL in the DestinatorApps\Destinator folder with that one.

Easy!

what brings this message about? i was using the software just fine and all of a sudden this message pops up and doesn't allow me to use it anymore. i purchased the actual destinator software and have only used the maps portion of it as it is made only for the pocketpc, etc. and i can't seem to get it to work. i don't want to invest more money on this as i've already purchased it from Destinator. Is there a workaround for this? can i install an earlier version of mapmonkey or something? all help is appreciated! thanks!

Could this be the expiration that was spoken off in sum thread here ?

That was supposed to be in August, we are still in July.

More likely he has replaced the DLL with and older version

possibly by reinstalling Map Monkey for some reason.

that is exactly what happened as i reinstalled mapmonkey and freedrive and it gave me this message. had i known that if i used the dest.dll file off of my destinator cd's this error would be fixed i'd have done it without having to d/l anything. i thank you for your help and excuse me for getting you in trouble as it was not my intention. i beg your pardon.
