If so can we then alocate a different image file to display on map other than a Gatso Cam, ie. Petrol Stations, WiFi hotspots etc...

There are hundreds of POI websites with millions of POI's out there and most seem to use CSV format.

Maybe a seperate app/pluggin/or whatever to import POI's would be handy...

You can import any POI's from csv files to the .dat file with Destinator (3.0.75) Console on your PC.

Which console? And what do I need to do exactly? Got several POIs but they're all *.dat files...

If you have a legal Destinator map and software, you can use the Destinator 3.0.75 Console. Load a map to the Console, and you can see the POI button. This POI converter not an exact POI converter, it is a Favorites converter instead. You have to make a .csv file (with a simple text editor, e.g. notepad) and that can be converted it to a .dat file.
e.g. You can do it like this: TRAF1,Trafipax,19.04702,47.49015

Thanks for your answer. Of course I have all this stuff legal. I'll try that when I'm at home. In case I won't get it, can I ask you again or give me a short instructions. I already know that your example seems very complicated to me due to it seems like I am more nerdy than I thought

Only one problem, even with all the legal software this only seems to work if you have a PPC connected and Im not about to go and buy a PPC just to import POI's...

Anyone got any other ideas...?


I tried using NM's Speedcam importer but I have a problem with POI csv iles being formatted differently.

I'm currently writing a tool to import POI's (both tom-tom OV2 files and CSV) into Map Monkey's favorites, I've not had much time lately but it will be here soon

Great job, that really comes along right in time. Tomorrow the postman will transmit my Fortuna 2 USB Sirf2 Gps mouse which I unfortunately bought quite late, but sometime is also in time

I am really looking forward to test your program on the streets tomorrow via laptop, but already now it just rules! you are really doing a great job with that so I will create a Paypal for me this week and hopefully I can motivate my friends to donate, and donate, and donate... don't want to know what price I'd have to pay if i bought a program with features like yours...

You don't buy a PPC just to import POI's, because the Destinator has a PC Console. When you install the Destinator 3.0.75 you get a PC program for use the map Console.
