i'm pretty sure that destinator/mapmonkey will not do this. Have a look at OziExplorer It will not do street routing tho.
Hi, is this possible with Map Monkey:
Since I live in the Philippines, there aren't so many GPS Maps available and Powerloc is one of those who don't have them. (But they should really put their butts to make em, not mainly for the locals but for the tourists) So what I wanted to do is maybe scan a hardcopy of a detailed map and maybe use it as a bitmap under Mapmonkey and then a pathway will just be drawn over it. Of course, the map should be moved aligned with a Longtitude and Latitude marker.
If this is not available, this would be a nice feature to add considering that half the world will benefit from it IMOThis would eliminate the reliance on destinator maps, one can use any image as their own maps. Maybe future features would incorporate something like a pathway drawing capability, where you mark the roads by tracing them depending on the width of the road etc. Databases will then be freely available
I know I'm asking for a feature here, but I think You guys should consider this, if not for map monkey, then maybe we can put up another mapping software, for us who are third world/non-GPS mapped citizens![]()

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story
Destinator get there maps from someone else- (can`t remember who but if you search you should find the name- starts with n?)
Thats how the UK maps from say miomaps who also use same ones work as same map so the destinator doesn`t see different- if that company do maps for the philipines then destinator will probably accept- so have a look
Just idea![]()
navteq or navtec or navtech cant remember which one...
thanks guys, will try that. so oziexplorer does this importing? great. Also, GPSU from http://www.gpsu.co.uk does this but its a bit touchscreen unfriendly. thanks for the inputs guys.
with ozi explorer, basically you just scan in the street directory. it should give you more info on their site.
