Destinator PN SDK

Yeah, destinator.exe just hangs for me after giving a select map dialog, and then I get a "send error report" dialog....

The same for me! And you DON'T have VS, right?

I have VB6.... it installs into what it calls "Visual Studio 6.0"... no VS2003

Yep, Office 2k3 is here... could this be breaking D5?

I dont have office on the carpc, should I try it there???

I'm thinkin about everything... It's the only thing those pcs have in common, at a first glance! If you can try... try!

I confirm it works on one of my carpcs!

No VS2003, no Office2003... dunno what else might make a different at this stage.

Didnt find out too many improvements.... c_client.exe didnt work, only destinator.exe... my map didnt work too cause it said it had to register it, I didnt want to risk anything since this isnt the final SDK I'm thinking...

I guess the problem might not be the SDK itself, just something that is "breaking" the sdk/demo-app...

Maybe this is old news to everyone but; my last correspondance with Rafiq was on 9/26; I assume that nothing much has changed; an excerpt of my email (from Rafiq):

"Our developers are still working on the issues for SDK V5. There are a few bugs which have come to light and they are working on fixing them. They have not given us a timeline just yet as some bugs require major work."

With the above in mind:

I have been able to do the following on some machines (others give a memory access error):

Ran the destinator.exe that comes with it; but it won't open up Dest PN maps; asks for a registration.....

Tried to run vb; but get automation errors when trying to create the activex object; I spent days trying to figure this out; so I went to the c example instead.... thought maybe I could get it to work....

Compiled the c_client; with the same results (asks for a registration). The original c_client requires modifcation to make it compile; then rafiq sent me a another version; and it required still more mods to make it compile and run (regarding the threading model for the active x). This was when I decided that there were bigger issues with this SDK than just me not programming it right; I sent Rafiq a list of issues (maybe 3 monthes ago????); and about once a month I have been getting an update from him

of course usually they are just wait a little longer..... nothing has changed. msgs like the one above....

Hope this info helps. They did offer to give me the D3 sdk until they fixed the D5 one; but I really don't need that. Esp since I don't have D3 maps (only PN).
