I'm still going to lok at doing some thing with NavigatoR if I have time but I'll have one eye on here just incase CDR works his magic.
If there is a way to produce the same sort of interface I may just change my name.
Does any one know if Directions app does by the road name... eg "turn on to the A5678" etc ?

nope. not in my setup. I find that the less my gps system speaks the better...however with a text-to-speech engine, anything is possible i guess.

no, embedding in roadrunner is the least of my worries with this.
The problem with the SDK is that all it gives you is the map, the road/poi db you can search, and some ways to create routes.....everything else must be programmed, which is quite a big undertaking. I was hoping that all the pcnavigator features where in the SDK but no.

ccsnet>does navigator2 support changing the window to windowed and changing the size of it, for embedding into the FE ?

I did, my c++ is really rusty, so i can't figure out if the sdk is good or not :-( as far as pcnav7 goes (for now), I am not sure that my skills as a programmer will get me anywhere near the quality of PCnav7's native GUI, as the sdk does not contain any event handling nor does it seem to have actual gps input anywhere, so there os soooo much coding to do, just to get very basic functionality.

Ok, some bad news on the sdk front...i sent a mail with some questions about the lack of features in the sdk, and unfortunately my concerns were real, this is it :

Hi There
I recently purchased the Navigator 7 Prof. in the hopes of using the OCX controls to develop a custom CarPC GPS Application that is integrated in the popular frontends in the carpc world, like RoadRunner, however there are some things that are not really documented in this OCX function, I have tried to summarise my questions as much as possible.
Q:Can I use the OCX to create a usable application for GPS navigation, like PC Nav7 or is it only to embed the map and calculate routes with ? I am unable to find any functions in the OCX for starting navigation or setting up comport for a gps device
A:it would be very difficult to develop navigation using our controls, however you will be able to size widnow and use some tcp commands in version 7.1, which will be available later this month
So i guess my worst thoughts were confirmed, that the sdk is not created to do actual gps applications, but rather for embedding a map and some basic route calculation in you own GIS application :-( Hopefully 7.1 will give is the much needed window sizing as promised. Sorry guys, but i don't think it would be worth any time trying to bodge something together with the sdk as it looks now.
