It's Packard Bell. It's just an IR receiver and matching remote, yet the the receiver can be used with any remote. I'll try to find one on the internet, but they have been mentioned many times on this board.

-You mean you want to just select the directory and have the music start playing, instead of a list of songs in the directory to choose from?

Exactly. Because when a song starts playing, you have the list of songs right there in front of you anyway, we could just pick a different song from there, know what I mean?

Well heck, I havent tried it, but if you want to try this...

Create a playlist in winamp. Rename it to playlist.m3u and drop it in the c:\mediaengine directory. Go into media engine and hit PlayMusic. Don't go to playlists. That might work. If it does, I have an idea to add support for playlists.

But you gotta try it and tell me first

ok, gave it a shot...here is what happened. The player screen loads and at the bottom there is a red bar saying "error loading playlist - please press quit" or someting to that effect. The current playlist bar did show the correct folder that the first song was in, but no files showed up.

Its due to the nature of the .m3u file. There is a lot of extra crap in those that I don't use. Open the playlist.m3u file that media engine generates. Its just a list of files and directories. If there was a way to tell winamp to just do that, everything would be cool..

I am still looking into it.

I know that you can export a playlist as a winamp data file, however I don't know what that file contains.

I was thinking about it a little last night...is there a way that you can let the user select more than one directory to load into the player window? This may accomplish the same thing without the need for playlist support to some point.

I would like to be able to listen to several albums set on random at the same time without having to rearrange the files---like if I wanted to play all files in my "Indie" directory I can bring them into focus and hit the random button.....that would be great!

not sure what you mean. If you mean Advance Track, then just use the right arrow key. If you mean up and down, use the Up/Dn arrow keys.

You might try mapping all your "favorite" keys out in the setup program to do the corresponding things you want them to.
