    LCD "Night" Skin... IDEA

    Hi there folks,
    Just a quick idea....
I saw it on a VDO GPS system.
There is a wire that connects to the headlamp illumination.
When you switch the headlamps on the screen switches from a bright colourscheme which is good for daytime viewing to a darker one for night which is easier on the eye.
the only thing is, how would one input this signal to the Carputer.
I hope this is useful to someone.
    Thanks,
    Gavin

to incorporate this you could use a PIC or build a circuit to plug into the serial or parallel port. It shouldn't be too hard to do. This sounds like a great idea, any possibility of doing this Carcomp?

How about just having a set time when it switches to the night skin? Much simpler.

I had thought about a simular idea ie raido muting when there is a phone call or external device ( ie my traffic gizzmo ) which is why I knew about them. There must be other units like these out there ?
