i'm also curious, got everyting installed except the software. Please let someone give a deadline/estimated date.
I was just wanting to know how the testing and refining is going on V2. There doesn't seem to be a lot updating on whats going on. I mean fear enough, you have lives and jobs (i presume), but it nice to keep the community up to date.
JUST A THOUGHT.

why don't they just make it hybrid, using WMP or Winamp? Whichever the user prefers
Because the APIs will be completely different, and every future change to the media playing will need to be replacated in both their WinAMP and WMP interfaces.Originally posted by unrealer33

You want to know whats up with 2.0? I tell you now!
What we got here is a situation of inadequacies (sic) with winamp. One thing winamp LOVES to do is steal focus from m.e. Also it does not like to cooperate with visualizations, and seeing that there is only 1 way to control vis, its almost pointless to try to. (Hence the spotty exit vis in 1.77F)
We are using the WMP control because it is WAY FASTER... It will run in a different process thus freeing up the m.e process for m.e events. (ever load a big playlist in 1.77?) We will also be able to control the playlist with unprecedented control. We may lose a few plugins, but we gain stability, control, and most of all a better way to improve future versions of m.e. The wmp control is more complex than you can imagine.
We ARE going to put GPS into 2.0. Thank hijinks. It will be mappoint based, so you must have a copy of mappoint installed if you wish to use GPS. It will work with all NMEA compatible GPS receivers.
We are also now supporting all the APM modes... Standby, Hibernate, and ShutDown. You enter the mode by using the old "shut down" button, but you set up how you want it to function in settings.
We are also making sure that ALL the old skins are supported. If there are "bits" missing that 2.0 needs (new icons and stuff) m.e 2.0 will fill in the holes with default icons.
Thats about all for now.
