    Question Requirements for Media Engine

    Hello everyone,

    Great forum, loads of info although there seems to be some issues using the Mozilla browser with it.

    Can anyone tell me the requirements of Media Engine. Such as what OS's it runs on minimum CPU speed, memory etc. I've noticed posts about this 98Lite utility. Has anyone used it and then successfully run Media Engine.

    I have a Pentium 233MMX Laptop with touch screen and although it might be too much to ask it to play movies it works with Winamp ok. I would just try it but I've not got much time on my hands at the moment.

    Well... It will work... I have an old Cyrix MX200 computer with 64 MB Ram working as mp3player... MEīs performance is a little bit slower than i would like but it does what it is supposed to.
    Im using Windows ME (clean installed it with only required features)
    Iīm now trying to find a good way to improve boot speed, and i will try with Win98 lite.
    The only thing the computer couldnīt handle is my favorite dsp pluggin for winamp... so, im planning to upgrade my MBoard and processor as soon as i can get my hands on some old parts.

    For starters I would ditch Windows ME, do a clean install of Windows 98 then try 98Lite and also you probably want to tweak the BIOS a bit. I did a search and came up with loads of links on improving performance and boot up speed.

    Some I already knew about and others I didn't.

    IMO though I would definately prefer 98 over ME. 98 is faster and more stable. ME is just the random parts of 2000 and 98 mashed together.

    I take Win98 over ME. I am going to run my box on Linux tho, because Windows sucks.

    Im running 98lite (chubby flavour) and its fast....and runs ME perfectly well....

    Mind you im only using it for music and havent tried any video or anything......

    OMG - Let me just say I feel like such a newb.
    I have been working with Windows OS since 3.11 and never knew that 98lite existed.
    I am defenitely giving that a run.
