It seems you did not select the correct file for the media to be placed in. Name your folders such as c:\media\movies and c:\media\mp3
I think that should work.
Hope that this thread is not a repeat of already posted problems (I did a search but couldn't find anything) if it is, please forgive me.
I installed ME 2.0 on my truckputer (Win XP PRO, Athlon xp1600+, 512MB ram) and now when I start up ME, I get this continuous loop of the front page, a 'loading program page' and then the front page (one with the icons for play music, external apps, etc)....
I can click to exit, which works, or click the configuration button to get myself to the configuration settings.
What could be wrong and how can I fis it? TIA - Carl
EDIT [10/23 7:30PM]
Did not ever get a prompt that said the program would build a database. Is there a way to do that manually now, as I think that may be the problem.

- 3+ years & still no carputer!
- Done collecting parts
- Currently planning setup
ME 2.0 is installed on the C drive
The Media is installed on the E dirve. I don't have to name anything, I just used the borwser to choose directories that already existed. I chose E:\ as the 'media' drive and I chose E:\playlist as the playlist folder...
What is wrong with that?

I had the same problem but I think I found out what's wrong!!
I think you can't use to many levels of subfolders.
I used D:/Media/Artist/Album/Song.mp3. When I set the Media folder to D:/Media I experience the same problem as you do, but when I set the Media folder to D:/Media/Artist Media engine starts normaly.
Try it!!
I just hope this is a bug. I don't want to reorganize my entire collection because of that...

I didn't use any sublevels, so I don't think that could be it.Originally Posted by AndyMP3
It must have something to do with the directory structure, because just after it says it is going to build the database, it goes into the looping routine.

its sounds like I have the exact same problem.
I installed ME 2 and it worked fine (few bugs found) for a couple of days. Now everytime I try to load it up it loops round the MediaEngine logo (splash screen) and the loading screen.
I can't do anything and I have to completely shut down my laptop.

I just unistalled 2.0, reinstalled 2.02 (whatever) and installed it on the E drive (same drive with the media on it.)
My symptoms remain the same. I navigated to the debug tab and see that I am getting an 'error 91' which does me absolutely no good, but hopefully will do some good for one of the developers.
Can anyone help me figure out why a normal install, following the directions given would be doing this?

MY problem of the screen looping has been fixed... I ran the unregger.exe app and then it worked fine.
Give it a try maybe?

had same problem causing , when adding a movie called 1.mpg to folder c:\1\video\ ! renaming the 1.mpg to 2.mpg solved the reloading of screen!!!
can anybody test in his settings to name a file in the moviefolder to the same name like the maindirectory? strange, or?
