"A runtime error" unfortunately is no error message. Which error was exactly shown?
I have a problem with the media engine 2. If I will start the mediaengine.exe, there is shown an error: "Runtime error 429: ActiveX component can't create object". Before that, there was an error "MSCOMM32.ocx isn't registred". I've downloaded the mscomm32.ocx and installed it... but then was the Runtime error shown. Can someone help me?

you have to install the full installter then use the updates in p[lace of the ones that are installed via the full installer

I am getting the same problem. Xp with all updates. Downloaded ME 2 and tried to install first I got the MScomm32 errors found it and registered it. Now it get runtime 429 can't create active x object. I have Been trying to find some additonal MS support files but not having much luck.
I have had some apps in the past that needed VBRun files to work but that did not work either.
Where can it find an older version of ME to try?

Never Mind guess it might help if I got the ME Setup from the downloads section on the site.
What is your Version of MSCOMM32.ocx?
I have just downloaded ME2 and i'm also getting the same problem...
Also getting error: Runtime error '429':

did you install the FULL install.. or did you download the .exe and running that?

I am having some huge errors when trying to play music on my carpc, after using XPLite. Has anyone had an issues using XPLite to remove stuff? Even when I have everything "ON" it can't play Music! Ideas?
