sounds great! can't wait for more! youre doing an excellent job.
Before I hit the sack tonight, I thought I would give you all an update as to whats going on with MediaEngine..
Its been a long time since the last update, but we have been working on so much new stuff that its been hard to take care of posting in here and coding... Thanks go out to Jy and Frodobaggins for all their user help and support for the MediaEngine community.
Where do I start explaining this... Hmm... Well, for starters we have switched back to Winamp. I feel that most everyone will appreciate this. We have totally comandeered everything related to visualizations so that whole headache is a non-issue. Also, winamp does that cool "fader" thing between songs that I like so much.
More news.. External applications has a toolwindow now... Whatever you launch has a "box" with some "buttons" on it that you touchscreen users can click (er.. touch) that allow you to move prev/next song, exit app, and do volume. Yay. This box can also be repositioned by touching a button.
Fixed a lot of problems dealing with the IRman "coasting" when you let up the button on your remote. Also added support for the USB-UIRT. Yay again. Its receive only though, so don't think that m.e is going to control your head unit (yet).
Stability has been enhanced a lot. I've added a lot of stuff to keep m.e from screwing up if you decide to do something weird like transfer it to another computer and not re-configure it or the like. We've also added a checkbox so that you can manually refresh the database (so it won't check it each time you launch the app)... Again this is not the way we wanted the app to work, but since it was requested so often, you get it
Application now supports ANY resolution... AND I MEAN ANY... you can configure it to support 1x1 if you want haha.... But the automatic detection is still defaulted and included so you don't really have to change this option if m.e has worked correctly in the past (this applies to most everyone running 4:3 < 1024x768.
Hmmm what else... Fixed a lot of bugs that have to deal with stability. I wish I knew more about programming in Visual C... I can see where this other language has its benefits (I can't control how the VB runtimes interface with windows)..
Theres lots of other tidbits and improvements that you are going to like, so just be patient. We can't rush this.

sounds like its coming along towards my idea of a perfect app... just needs png/alpha transparency support for the skins now (hint hint)... now if only windows could run read-only so i don't have to worry about corrupting the harddrive every time i hit some railroad tracks, i wouldn't have to worry about writing my own app to use linux
