Ok after a lot of R&D i have come to a conclusion that win98 does not like the dll and therefore does not register it ...
Well now where do we go from here?

"The reason this is occuring is is because the installer is not registering mswebdvd.dll file. The solution to this is to register that file by either finding it on your computer, or downloading it here. Once you have the file, put it in the c:\windows\system32 directory and use REGSVR32.exe (a component of windows) on the file. It will say it succeeded if you have done it right."
I had to start this tread because you have locked the other one.
Ok i got the dll and the exe now the question is how do i regester the dll.
a) Both my exe and the dll are put in the system32 folder
b) I put the dll over the exe and it says failed.
Sorry for my low knowledge of Software... please guide me through this.
Early response shall be great.
Cheers

Use your command prompt and type in (in your system32 directory or whereever you copied the files, location does not matter!)
regsvr32 mswebdvd.dll
what response do you get (please a full message, not something like "it says it failed")?
DllRegisterServer in mswebdvd.dll failed
return code was: 0x80070078
This is wat comes up in the msg box when i type regsvr32 mswebdvd.dll
in the run box.

I have a suggestion... Get a fresh copy of Windows98 SE installed on your carputer with all of the windows updates. Don't install anything else. Now install mediaengine. We have tested m.e on a fresh copy of win98 SE and found that it will work fine. Or...
Use windowsXP or windows2000. I am sorry, but its just too difficult to write software that works well on both a 9x based system and an NT system. Nothing personal.
Get MediaEngine !!!
Media Engine Download
i had the problem(s) being experienced with MediaEngine. After a fresh install, it would just keep restarting in a neverending loop. I installed DirectX 9 and it started crashing with an error in msdxm.ocx. I found an older/different version of msdxm.ocx somewhere on the net, downloaded it, and popped it into windows/system and everything works great now. Sorry I don't know exactly where I found it, but![]()
I understand carcomp...!
What i got till now is that the dll gets installed if ME is not installed but once ME is installed then it starts to crash .. Will try other ways and post later

I was able to get it to work doing the following;
1. Clean install of win98 with all critical updates
2. Copied a windows ME mswebdvd.dll (204K file) to windows\system\32 and regestered it.
3. Copied a windows ME msdxm.ocx (789k file) to windows\System.
I found these file at http://www.drd.dyndns.org/index2.html
Hope this helps.
OK got it to work ... tips
a) clean install
b) dirextx9
c) mediaplayer9
d) Copy a windows ME mswebdvd.dll (204K file) to windows\system\32 and regestered it.
e) Copy a windows ME msdxm.ocx (789k file) to windows\System
And voila it works ...
Thanks all
