A very dubious way of increasing file access time is to increase the size of the hard drive clusters (need a professional program like partition magic). This will increase access times for files if they are not fragmented, however, small files will use up more disk space.

Really? I never even thought of that. We went back and forth on a bunch of emails a while back, and it never crossed my mind that its also a guys name.

Its much better than nothing, it can do a lot, I just wish it had the skin-like polish of MC+Feb's skins. I have used it a lot to diagnose and fix things.

    Wink

jrich523 is right I should have been more clear pagefile forcing is only really good if you have two physical drives.

Just out of interest with the price of usb memory sticks comming down so low has any one started using them to put there mp3 etc on. I mean like they are easy to update, just take em out and plug into you home p.c and put the new files on. Also they dont have any moving parts so no posible damage the platters and data like you can in a harddrive and most important they dont use much power and have a good access time.

Yup. I bought a 64MB USB 1.1 drive a year or so ago for school (I was told I needed 5-10 floppies for accounting class, ha!) I put so much on it. I've taken important files of FUBARed computers before.

I have a list (yes it's encrypted) of all usernames and passwords for sites and the such that I access.

I even instlled AIM to it so I could chat on school computers (it runs right off the thumb drive. It's plenty fast enough for me, but I'd suggest USB 2.0 for media files.

It currently is literally on my keychain. It has been through the washing machine (with plenty of time to dry) it worked fine.

I love them. I paid $19.99 at an Office Max for it a year ago. I love them.

Not sure why but it kills them. They are supposed to work according to all tne mod sites etc.
