    Cd Ripping and CDDB

    hello again.

what is the bestway you guys have found to rip CD's to MP3 whilst easily being able to enter artist and track info (to lazy to type!)

Since my carPC is not web enabled, i have no online CDDB access, and the only thing i can think of is using a wireless network card to access home PC whilst parked outside- is there any kind offline CDDB prog - dont want to to use PC and copy files to carputer every time i want to rip atrack - defeats object of even having a cd drive! (apart from DVD's and burning etc)!

Been stuck with this one for a while! enjoy...

This does sound interesting. But I could only imagine how large that database would be. I found the below link from a quick search with a link to a nice FAQ section. To me it doesn't sound like there is a simple copy of this database sitting somewhere.

tis a tricky one isn't it!?

see with no keyboard in the car (altough could use a mini-usb or on-screen) and i dont want to use touch screencos it would take forever...

theonly thing i can thinkof is networking and using an ID3 editor prog with CDDB support.

Therest of you must have similar probs when ripping in the car??

Thanks for the FAQ will read it now....

No Worries - but i cant be the only one that is ripping D's in the car without taking the unit out and plugging it into the PC for net connection....

there's an idea - could use mobile and data cable to allow internet access and gettracks inputted by the online CDDB, but surely there is an offline alternative??

You're gonna have to use the web, considering that the current size of the CDDB is 2,876,610 CDs with 36,824,287 Songs. That would be a pretty large database to have on your carputer.

Cool, but won't you have to re-download the database as new CD's are released daily?
