Make DVD fill screen under media engine

I am wondering if there is a way to make a DVD fill the screen under Mediaengine. I have PowerDVD installed for my codec. I can un tick “keep aspect ratio” and have the DVD fill the screen under PowerDVD but Mediaengine apparently does not use this setting. I ASSume this is because the msdvdweb dll does not use the “keep aspect ratio” setting in PowerDVD. I guess I am looking for a different codec that will allow me to do this like what ffdshow does for mpegs. My aspect ratio is currently 800x600. I can not get any widescreen ratio's with my shuttle FV25.

    Thanks for the help.

There are a few aspect ratio and resolution settign in MediaCar if i recall, mess around with them, or try a different skin maybe, it should take up the whoel screen then.

As for the problem your describing I'm not sure what you mean - dvd's don't use codecs, but decoders, and as for them, they shouldn't affect aspect ratio, the particular sotware oyur using would. And your resolution is 800x600, but your aspect ratio depens on your monitor - you can have 4:3 (normal square monitor) or 16:9 (rectangular/widescreen) like most xenarc and lilliput monitors are.

I guess I don't get your question :P. Can try to explain what yourtrying to do differently?

CODEC CODer - DEcoder I always thought thats what it meant.

The ffdshow decoder does exactly what I want for mpeg movies. I was hoping there was something like this for DVD.

Yes I have a widescreen monitor. I am trying to make the movie aspect ratio look correct on that. Since the screen is so small though I would accept/prefer just making the movie fill the whole screen. My mainboard (shuttle sv25) does not support widescreen resolutions so ive got to use another method to accomplish this.

I see. did you try the software called PowerStrip? It worked for me on my old board (onboard video), so it mgiht work, you can force it into the correct resolution then. Otherwise, stuff is gunna look kind of stretched out. If oyu force it into the irght resolution, PowerDVD's keep aspect ratio button will do the job.

One way would be to install the Kazaa lite codec pack, it has several dvd decoders in it (and a nice media player called media player classic, give it a try too), and try some programs like VLC, you might be able to stretch the playback window into the correct aspect ratio :P.

Last resort, try a cheap PCI video card in there, you can find a list of supported cards ofr PowerStrip at their website, then make it the correct resolution, and oyur all set.
