FYI, has the same issue on a fresh install with Windows 2000. Updated to WMP9, all patches, codecs, etc...latest Medai Engine and I Would not see any of the videos, but I would hear the sound though. I then started from scratch but with Windows XP and no problems... sounds like a video driver problem to me...

I have the exact same problem s as others... Media Engine will play the sound, but not the video only on the latest release.

    Troubleshooting done so far:

    OS: Windows XP
    All Windows Updates done.
    Have latest DirectX installed.

    - WORKS on old Media Engine builds.
    - WORKS on Windows Media Player.
    - WORKS on wplay32.exe

    - INSTALLED All-In-One Codec Pack - NOTHING
    - REINSTALLED Media Engine (Latest Build) - NOTHING
    - UPDATED latest Winamp in Media Engine directory - NOTHING
    - UPDATED mobo chipset drivers - NOTHING

CORRECTION: I did not install the right drivers. I REINSTALLED the RIGHT video drivers for my motherboard, and this fixed the problem.

Freeking awesome!!! This build of Media Engine is way smoother now that this works!!

People, you might have to figure out exactly what model you mobo is and take it from there... simply installing the Windows Drivers wont cut it. If you did not get a CD with your motherboard, then open that bietch up and Google it for the right drivers.

OR if your resolution is set on 780?1024 (Or whatever) try switchign it to 800x600. For some weird reason, the higher resolution doesn't allow video play back, but the lower resolution does.

Interesting. For me, If I use the older version of ME, it does play the videso. As soon as I use the new one, it does not work. BUT, the new version works fine for me under windows XP. I have this problem in Windows 2000. I run a resolution of 800*600. I will try as advises to re-install the Mobo AGP drivers and find native drivers for my video card. (I use an old Compaq laptop with all microsoft drivers...). Hoppe it'll work. ME is the best out there for me since my screen is not the standard 800*480... thanks for all the feedbacks and tests

    I had the same problem.
The new version was fine on my other PC but wouldnt work on my laptop. Both running XP, both with the same codecs and setup.

I couldnt get video running in Mplayer32 either. I tried all the codecs listed above and no change.

I downloaded the previous version of ME and it works great. Its a bit slower than the new version when selecting menus but Ill live with it.

Im yet to put it in the car but I cant wait!

I had the same problem too.i install all codecs.
the video can be played in mplay32.exe and mplay2.exe.but in ME, there is black screen with sounds.i replace the x10net.dll from old version, ME can play the windows media logo, then still black screen with sounds.
anyway, i love ME, waiting new version.

btw, i install ME at my desktop PC, WINDOWS xp os, it can play video, but in my notebook, windows 2000 os , video is black screen.

Sorta on the same subject. My system wouldn't play video, all i got was audio. Turned out that bios on my EPIA needed to be set to tv out instead of crt. Although i run RR for some it might be the same kind of problem. Also if i turned off all hardware exceleration i could play video. But it was real slow. Hope that helps someone.
Um, I guess this is where you put something witty.WITTY
