Any chance of moving to a more modular Skinning Framework to make skinning easier and more manipulative?

XML wouldn't make it more manipulative by itself,
a lot of backend code by the author would have to take place.

Thanks frodo, I was about to say that XML is just another format for an ini file. It really bothers me that ppl think XML can solve any problems in and of itself. It's just a standardized way to store datasets. A while back, someone even suggested that we replace the media database with XML. WTF? I'm about as tired of hearing XML as I am Bluetooth.

Hey, speaking of backend code, I'd like to pick your brain about something if you have a minute. Check your pm.

Sorry fellas, I was not thinking XML was the save all end all for the app. I have just worked with many other front ends (HTPC/XBOX) and all the skin files are in XML and it is easier to move the object around. Now that you speak of it I realize that these object have to be coded properly to be moved and manipulated like that.

Any ideas of making the app and each object more "modular" if you will.

Really the idea is just being able to put the control buttons wherever we wanted, or the track info wherever, etc....

Hope I didnt annoy anyone with the XML talk.

If everyone started moving everything around, it wouldn't look like mediaengine anymore.. One of our biggest assets is the fact that our app always looks like our app, no matter how its skinned. Its possible confuse some of the other apps b/c you can make them look however, but m.e will always look like m.e.
    Get MediaEngine !!!
