    xmpcr help please!

    i'm having problems getting xm to work w/ ME. xm works with stock software that came w/ it, but won't work w/ ME. i have edited the ini file in ME to show the port number used by usb serial port. please help
    i also noticed in the debug log that the com port is getting response timeout and also powerOn=False. i don't know if that has anything to do with the issue i'm seeing.

    TIA

    anyone with any ideas? anything is better than nothing. i'm out of ideas.
    by the way, this problem is on xp. i tried it on my desktop which has 2k, and it works fine. could this be a driver issue? i have the latest usb-serial driver.

    knowing what model receiver you're using and how it's connected would help

    Phat bastard, thanks for trying to help. the receiver is XMPC-1000, connect directly to a usb port. the sound is connected directly from the receiver to the line-in of my sound blaster external live usb sound card.

    Since it works on 2K it sounds like it might be a problem with the driver you are using. Try using the driver that comes with your radio cd. Use the win2000 driver if it will let you, and see if that works. Make sure to uninstall all previous drivers completely. If you have another XP machine to test on other than the one metioned, you might try that.
    Get MediaEngine !!!

    i will try that. i have tested on two xp machines (car and laptop) both have the same issues. i will try to uninstall all the drivers and software and go from there.

    ok, i just uninstalled all the software and driver and used the driver that came w/ xm satellite radio. still having the same problem. as far as i can see, ftdichip has one driver for all the operating systems. i have also tried to install older as well as newer driver from ftdichip but still experiencing the same problem. couple versions of the drivers i have tried are R9052151 and also R9052154 in addition to the one that came w/ the hardware. still no luck. when ME is going thru the ports, it finds the right port but just times out. seems like its not able to communicate with the device. i noticed i'm sharing IRQ 11 with alot of devices (video card, ethernet card, usb universal controllers) but unfortunately, there's no way of changing the IRQs w/ 2k and xp b/c of the ACPI hardware layer as far as i can tell. could this be possible that there's a conflict eventhough xp isn't seeing it?

    also, is it possible that ME doesn't have the init string to power on the device?
    xm seems to work w/ couple software such as XtreMe PCR.

    No, it's not (possible). Make sure you don't have 'Use XMDirect' checked, or you'll be sending the init commands for the direct, that the PCR doesn't know what to do with. One other thing - you are using the latest version of MediaEngine, right? (2.3.2)

    You might also bump up the timeout setting in the xm section of settings.ini a little at a time and see if that helps.

    [xmpcr_tuner]
    enabled=true
    XMDirect=false
    port=
    timeout=12000 < increase this in increments of 1000 and post back the value if it eventually works
