Has anyone succeded in getting this to work? I have tried everything I can think of. Is it even possible? The plugin is for winamp so I thought it would be cool.

I'm not familiar with what this plugin does, but are you putting it in c:\program files\media engine\plugins? Also, if you need to configure the plugin through Winamp, you'll need to run winamp from the media engine folder.

Yeah thats where I put it. Its the winamp plugin for the M-BUS to usb adaptor made by jbors. It should allow me to use my factory head unit to change track on my PC.

Can you make it work running winamp standalone?

The changer support of playlists definitely won't work on top of MediaEngine. For changing tracks only I believe it would work. Kind of a neat hack, but there are so many different HU control protocols it has a somewhat limited audience.

The main problem I have with it is: it uses an automated installer. It asks you to point it at your winamp folder and it does the rest. Unfortunately it won't accept any of the folders within M.E as containing winamp. I've been trying to hack a solution from the files it drops when I install it on standalone winamp.

Re: the protocols - M-BUS covers just about all Alpine head units (AI-Net can be converted) and JBors provides other units for other protocols. He seems to have alot covered.

^^... uh because people want to have AM/FM radio. Because some people want music when their CarPC is down for maintenance.
