    Question Alturion GPS Pro 5 + few bugs

    Hi there coyote!

    First off I would like to congratulate you on the work you've done with MediaCar. You seem very dedicated to it and it shows! This software has about everything a carpc needs. Very well done!

    As a matter a fact I'm Belgian too (from Deinze, near Ghent)
    Nice to see such great quality home-brewn software

    I guess you know about Alturion GPS Software (seems to be Belgian too, from Antwerp). It works great on my GPS reciever (Haicom USB) even if I have no absolute 3 sats lock. It's the only software I know of that is capable of doing this, and it also features 3D view!

    With big hopes I tried it together with MediaCar, bot embedded or not. It won't start up . It gives me an error of this kind "Your video card does not support DirectX9 hardware. Please try to upgrade to drivers, Software mode is enabled" and then "Failed to create empty document", and it quits. Stand-alone it starts up fine, but as soon as MediaCar is running the program gives me that same error, even if I start it from outside MediaCar. I guess it has something to do with DirectX that is already in use? If I start Alturion first and then MediaCar, it seems to work if you don't resize the Alturion window afterwards.
    My system is an Epia 10000 with XP-SP1, DirectX9b installed.

    Another little thing is that when I open a movie and start using fast forward, it does work for a few seconds and then MediaCar just closes down and dissapears. It could be that this is related to the control bar that's sliding down simultaniously, I'm not sure about that.

    Hello dear compatriote (near Mouscron/Tournai for me )

    It's again the gamma correction that give this problem with your GPS software, in the next version I will give the possibility to completely disable this function.

    Hey Coyote,

    I just downloaded and installed V1.8 and gamma, Alturion and all seems to work fine now. It just launches sepreately, so it's not embedded

    Is there anything I can try to make it run embedded, it's not really nescessary, but it looks so good when it does work! Also since MediaCar dissapears after I launch it from the task bar I need to minimize Alturion, 'close' the MediaCar GPS screen and then I can switch between them.

    The software launches (after a splash screen) in a window that seems to be called " - Alturion GPS" (including the spaces!).

    Any suggestions maybe ?

    I will make like for the Winamp visualisation and add an option to define the Search string to find the good Window to be embedded. It doesn't want to be embedded because the Handle that I receive is the Handle of the splach screen and not the Handle of the main window. With the search string I will find the Handle of the good window

    problem with configuring the GUI of Alturion

    Nice to hear that the Belgians are back. I am Belgian too. (geraardsbergen/Grammont).
    I have a small problem. I have alturion and I am not so happy with the GUI in the car (to small ) are you have something made already and what is your experience ?

    Well it just got brought back to life imho

    And while we're on the subject of Alturion For some reason, when I run it embeded, the alturion screen gets maximized after its started/embeded... Which results in the top bar from media car disapearing (and thus not able to quickly close it to go to mp3)...

    Probably has something to do with the speed (as it sometimes doesnt happen when alturion starts up real fast)...
