Well, here's that time now. My cable company gave me a phone call today and they're threatening to cut my high speed cable internet services because my site is causing way too much traffic - my site transfers about 300MB-500MB/day - because of the FireSkull, Scorpinum, and MindCalm skins and not to mention a few other skins that I'm currently working on - like the 640x480 versions of the above 3 skins that so many people have requested me for.

They have given me a week from today to shut down my site or I lose my cable services indefinintely. Keep in mind that the hi-speed cable internet is the ONLY hi-speed services I can get here! I can't get DSL cuz my location is 11,000+ feet away from the nearest CO.

I'm nicely asking y'all if you want me to continue making awesome skins - please, please make a donation of a few dollars towards my site's service to keep it online but moved onto a hosting service so you guys can have much higher speeds for downloads and to continue enjoying my skins.

Who do you have for internet? I transfer in GB range and mine dosn't say anything. I don't think thay can really do that sort of thing. Does your contract say anything about limits?

Cox and yep. 2GB max a month upstream. And I'm way over that already. Went over my limit by almost 1.3GB in 10 days.

If you will rework your skins to accomodate 640 X 480, I will donate 5.00 a piece for them when I donwload them again.

I have temporarily disabled all of my skin downloads on my site because I have come to an compromise with my service provider that I turn off the popular files and they'll continue my service but until I get an offer to mirror my skins with full access to my files on the mirror... the skins are staying offline.

I have halted the re-engineering of the 640x480 version skins because of coyote's unexpected move by changing all of the .skin files excessively on his program which forces me to re-engineer all of my skins.

As of now, I'm discontinuing support on the Scorpinum and the MindCalm skins. I am now only going to support the FireSkull skin. Until people start making donations. I've gotten only ONE, and ONLY ONE donation. Really nice of y'all to be considerate enough, right........sorry to be so bitter.

These changes was necessary. It's the first and the last "big" change of the skin structure.

If you want, send me your sources files and I will make the work for you and send this back to you, it's one or two hours of work

I can also put your skin on my Web site, I'm waiting your approval since 2 weeks

An other information, I have reserved the domain www.mediacar.org and an interactive site is under construction by "WebAssistUK", this site will give you the possibility to upload yourself the skins on the site

Now I have a problem with this. When you posted your skin work, you made it possible for people to download and enjoy the projects you have completed, for free. Or at least for the usage charges we incur for our dial up or broadband access.

Look up the definition for the word "donation" it is not compulsary...it is a voluntary action. If you wanted to make money off of your work, (a completely reasonable attitude in my opinion), perhaps you should have said they were trialware or mentioned a fee up front. In my case I haven't donated any cash to you because they look terrible in the format 640 X 480, not your fault, I need to run at that res. in order to maintain a certain amount of safety while driving, and I have discontinued using them. If I saw the skins I wanted in the res I wanted, I would have purchased them from you. I believe in paying for what I use.

Silly to pay for something I am not going to use, isn't it? It is not a matter of my being inconsiderate. Be bitter all you like, if you had certain expectations, you should have stated them up front. I will not look to you for any skins at this point and will see what others are available with the "price" stated up front, or if no mention of price than trial until I decide if I like it or not. I donated a fee for MediaCar because I like it and because he has supported it to the utmost of his ability. When I requested a 640 X 480 version from you, you said "working on it right now" that was some time ago, I haven't seen dick from you in the results department.

Anyway, sorry to rant like that. But if you want something than state it. Don't expect others to "read your mind"

BTW....skins are made to work with the program, not the other way around.

Why nobody makes skin in 1024*768 for example ? because when you reduce it to 800*600 or 848*640 with Mediacar you will not lose in quality

Jeez louise... relax buddy. I'm just temporarily halting my development of the 640x480 skins... I didn't intend to halt and give up on it completely. Just that the conversion that coyote made set me back big time. Also not to mention other priorities happening in my life as well.

As for the donation thing, its not for the skins themselves. It's for a HOSTING SERVICE cuz MY CABLE SERVICE has threatened to shut off my service cuz I've already infringed my contract big time by causing HUGE amounts of traffic on my personal server at home hosted on a cable modem. I was allowed only 2GB per month but I'm over that by 1.5GB, as of now, which totals to about 3.5GB for this month alone. I have compromised with the company to turn off my popular files.

I'm still working on the 640s just give me a bit of time. I'm not gonna use the extra time to post every little thing I do to a skin anymore just when I finally release it.

coyote: I can see why it's needed... no rants over here, just a bit of an inconvinency. No harm done. I actually like the 1.8.5 version better mainly because of the hibernate button. As for mirroring my skins, please give me some more time to catch up on what was going on in the past few days - I had to go out of town for a business trip. So... I'm home now and hard at work again.
