Nope, the ME skin-maker will not work for MediaCar.

MediaCar skins are currently made purely by hand, it's probably just as easy

You create the skins based on individual images.
Each screen seen in MediaCar is a different image that is loaded up by the .skin
    files.

Give it a shot, and mess around with a couple of images.
Use the default skin to get the hang of it.

    gerard,

Easiest way is to have a look at the image files in the default skin. All the bits in there are what you will need. You will see that there are 4 images for each particular bit. There will be a Down, Empty, Off and On. These will be shown when clicking, as a blank when no icons, normal, and when moused-over in that order. The "Down" is optional, however I feel that it gives a nice, non-static effect

Once you have your new images all set up, you will then need to define which bits are where, which is done in the .skin file. By far the easiest way is to copy the ones for the Default skin, and just change the x,y,w,h values for each "button" or section. You can do this quite easily using Photoshop and dragging a selection box round the relevent bit, and going to "Transform Selection", then it will show you the x,y co-ordinates of the top left corner, as well as the w and h values, which is all you need to define for the skin.

There are a few bits like the mixer which have x,y,w,h,x1,y1,w1,h1 etc, which will be two "bits" of the one part. For example, in the mixer screen, one of the xywh sets does the "mouseover" (which is generally the bigger area) and the other does the "slider" part. That might be the most difficult bit to do!!

Once you get the hang of what you're doing, it's pretty easy. If you get stuck, put a post up here with your image file and your .skin file, and someone should be able to take a look and point you in the right direction

To move the position of the buttons you will have to redo the image files, and then adjust the .skin files as necessary. The way it works is to have 4 static images, which are "pixel mapped" to an "active area" within MediaCar. Therefore, to move anything, you have to change those 4 images, and update the "active area" for that button

Basically you have 4 images and a skin file for each module.
for example the audio player module.
audio_player_empty.jpg <--- No buttons or anyhing
audio_player_off.jpg <--- With buttons layout, stage where no user input mouse/TS
audio_player_on.jpg <--- With buttons layout, moutover stage.
audio_player_down.jpg <--- With buttons layout, mouse down/press stage.
audio_player.skin <---- This is the skin configuration files.
Each element on the image is "pixel mapped". Look at the skin file and modify the coordinate of the corresponding buttons/elements and how wide and tall it is on your new images files.

Best way to do it is open (the default skin in 1 module) all 4 images in photoshop and compare the different among the image to figure out why it is. Then look at the skin file for one particular button. Put the mouse over the top left corner of the button on the image. Read the coordinate and compare it in the skin file. After that, you will be able to figure out why it is that way then make your own.
That is how I did mine.
