Help! Cannot get Media Car stable

I could use a little help as I am running out of ideas here.

I am using Dell laptop, Soundblaster Audegy 2EX, Lilliput 7" screen, Griffin Powermate and an XM PCR w/ DIY optical upgrade.
It was working pretty well up until I upgraded the hard drive from 20GB to 80GB.

I loaded Windows XP Pro, SP1a.
I then attached a 4 port USB hub.
Connected the touchscreen and installed driver
Then connected the SB and let it use the XP drivers(I did not load the SB software or drivers to keep it clean).
Connected the XM PCR and installed driver
Installed driver for Powermate and then connected it and pointed it to the correct Powermate driver, not the defaut MS driver.
I then installed Mediacar 1.9 & then the patch.
That's it, nothing else loaded so I can keep it clean.

Nearly anything I do in Medicar generates a crash that displays "MediaCar has generated errors and needs to be closed. We are sorry for this inconvenience........"

I have reloaded Windows XP from scratch 5 times and in different order with the same results. I have tried 3 different laptops with the exact same issues.
I am confused that this assortment of hardware was working for close to a month without any issues and now I can't get it to work at all.

Anybody have any ideas what is conflicting??? If I disconnect the 4 port hub with everything attached to it MediaCar is much more stable so obviously it's one of those components but EVERYBODY is using these components so I am at a loss.

Thanks for your help in advance....
BTW, I have not posted much as I am very adept with using the Search but I have been lurking and learning for a few months.

I had problems when I was using a hub that was solely powered by the pc. I switched to one with that used the power from two usb ports to power it and it has worked great since. What happens if you plug the USB devices into pc without going through the hub?

Ok, I think I may be on the right track here.
I installed the Creative Labs drivers for the SB and it seems to be stable. I grabbed the latest drivers and firmware upgrade from Creative and I was able to get everything up and running and switch between apps without crashing. It would appear that the built in Windows drivers are not too stable for the Audigy 2EX. Hopefully this will bring to an end several days of frustration....
