I backed out winamp 5 last night and installed winamp 3, unfortunately that changes the winamp binary name to winamp3.exe and mediacar wont start.

So I went back to winamp 2.8 as thats all I had available. I configured the line in plugin and tested the radio again.

Same problem, the PC reboots after about 20 seconds of radio use.

Strangely enough, I had the same issue in MediaEngine as well. I'm going to test this on a clean install of XP and mediacar with no other things installed and see what happens.

I sure hope you figure it out. I have the same problem and all my tests confirm what you are saying - it looks like winamp dlls... So sad. I try to show off my carputer to friends and *pewwww - REBOOT*. Not cool...

Yes, I really suspect winamp now, since coyote switched to the winamp in-line.dll plugin this has been a problem for quite a few people.

And it's a shame our goal is to try and get a piece of crap hardware like the d-link to work correctly.

OK, just tested on a clean install, different PC, but same chip set (SIS). AMD, not Intel processor.

    All works fine.

    Installed D-link radio
    Installed mediacar 1.90
    Installed Mediacar 1.91b

    Tested radio module, no crash.

Windows XP Pro, clean install, then all updates applied.

    Install D-link S/W
Installed media car 1.90 then updated to 1.91b

    No other SW installed

This PC was a SIS chipset and AMD proc

My car PC is a SIS chipset with Intel proc.

I think the problem is the winamp line-in plugin and compatibility with some audio drivers. If you go into WinAmp/Preferences/Plugins/Line-In/Configure you should get no errors and see your audio drivers listed. I tried it on two computers. One it worked on and my Via M10000 it didn't. On my laptop, that it worked on, when I went into line-in configuration, everything looked ok. When I went into line-in configuration on my M10000 (the machine it reboots on) I got an error saying it couldn't retrieve information from the Wave Mapper and no sound cards were listed under Standard. I think the reboot has something to do with this maybe.

sounds promising. i'll try to look into my m10000 over the weekend and see if it does the same thing. i'm almost ready to switch over to mediaengine because of this.
