    XM PCR External App

    Is there a FAQ or Step by Step on how to add external apps. to MediaCar?

    I am trying to add the stock XM PCR software as an external apps to MediaCar....

    I went in and added a new text file for the app and a new JPEG file for the display.... It is not right enough to work yet....

    I think I am messing up the path to the XM PCR software. If I right click the desktop icon for XM PCR I get

    "C:\Program Files\XM Satellite Radio\XMMT.exe" 127.0.0.1 /q /s /r2d2

    That doesn't seem to work when I put it into the launch directory of media car (well within the file for the XM).....

    Can anybody supply a direct copy and slightly modify and paste file for adding XM to the APPS section of Media Car.....

    Thanks in advance.

    just put the directory aka

    [GENERAL]
    PATH = C:\WINNT\system32\notepad.exe
    TryEmbeddedTimeOut = 5
    WindowSearchString=

    dont bother with this " 127.0.0.1 /q /s /r2d2 and the star before it it should look like this

    [GENERAL]
    PATH = C:\Program Files\XM Satellite Radio\XMMT.exe
    TryEmbeddedTimeOut = 5
    WindowSearchString=

    just make sure the XMMT.exe is the application your using, to do this just go in the xm satellite directory, and double click on xmmt.exe if it loads the app then its correct if not its wrong

    ohh one more thing, make sure the jpg is the same name as the folder, for example i have a folded called XM, so the jpg is XM.jpg

    hope this helps

    Well thanks bimmer, the deal with the picture file name and directory name being the same fixed the picture not showing up, but still a no go on the program actually starting.

    I have the text file just as you suggested above, and still no go. Just to experiment I tried the same with TouchXM and it doesn't run either......

    Is there another spot in Media car where you have to enter info? I see nothing in the Media Car setup screen about external apps....

    This is strange.....

    Any ideas????

    Does anybody have any idea how to add External Apps to Media Car? Other than what I have done so far, which is detailed above.

    Thanks in advance, I hope.

    I guess now is a good a time as any. You guys post faster than I can code

    Here is LMF 1.1, Now for MediaCar and MediaEngine.
    Code:
     2004 Kevin Lincecum
    frodo |at| frodoplayer.com
    Launch ************ ! v. 1.1.0

    Usage:

    Make a seperate directory for each app you want to launch.
    (Seperate LMF instances, ie. a whole new directory with all the files in this release.)

    Edit the LMF.INI file with the path to the program you want to launch.

    [MAIN]
    COMMANDLINE=C:\Program Files\XM Satellite Radio\XMMT.exe
    COMMANDLINEOPTIONS=127.0.0.1 /q /s /r2d2
    UNLOAD=FALSE

    You should set UNLOAD=TRUE for MediaCar and set UNLOAD=FALSE for MediaEngine.

    ---------------------------------------------------------
    For MediaCar
    Make a folder in the launch folder.
    Example: XM
    Make an XM.JPG in that folder.
    Make and XM.INI in the folder.
    In your XM.INI point it to an instance of LMF.EXE

    Example
    [GENERAL]
    PATH = C:\Program Files\MediaCar\LAUNCH\XM\LMF.EXE
    TryEmbeddedTimeOut = 5
    WindowSearchString=

    ---------------------------------------------------------
    For MediaEngine:
    Add LMF.EXE to your applications section in MediaEngine.

    Notes: Closing this app will NOT close the app you launch.
    You must close the called app manually.
    ---------------------------------------------------------

    Have Fun,

    I read through what you said and it kind of makes sense..... I think I can work through it.... But now I am wanting to know, this sounds pretty involved... I wonder why NOTHING was included in the help for Media Car about this.....

    It's not hard at all, I will explain better.
    Make a folder somewhere, and put LMF.EXE and LMF.INI in it.
    Make sure the INI looks like the one above. Luckily for you,
    the information is probably the same.

    Then, in the MediaCar Launch directory, make a folder called
    "XM"
    In there put a JPG file called XM.JPG
    Make an INI File called XM.JPG
    (Standard MediaCar INI)
    Just point XM.INI to wherever you installed LMF.EXE

    Then you're done.

    Frodo

    Does this pass on the WM_MOVE etc messages so the launched app becomes embedded in MC?

    Thanks
