Try Adobe Photoshop.
i just downloaded the brushed metal skin and it is awesome!
however, i'd like the illumination around the buttons to be amber. anyone know how to do it? i searched about 8 or 9 pages deep but i didn't see anything completely relevant...
no, i know that much...
but HOW do you edit the skin file, etc.? the end result is that i want the illumination to be amber to match the rest of my interior controls. do i need to create a button that has amber surrounding it, and it will somehow integrate into MediaCar?
let's say i am editing a button. i don't know if this is how you do it - i'm totally guessing. i open it up in photoshop, put an amber illumination around it and then save it? is it that easy?
I don't have that skin. Post the .jpg and tell me what you want, and I'll try to help.
cris, i just sent you an email. i think i'll need to email the file to you.
otherwise, you could download the porsche skin from the skin site.
Could you post a pic of the exact colour that you want?
Just seen the skin. It should be pretty easy though. This is in Photoshop: First select the porsche logo in the middle. Then invert selection: press Ctrl+Shift+I. Then go in the Image menu - Adjustments - Selective Colour. Select reds (it's already selected becouse it's the first one). And there you go. Play around with the colours until you get what you want. If you still are not satisfied with the result, I can talk you through some other adjustments to get a perfect fit.
ok, i'll try it...
figured it out!
thanks for the help!
for anyone that wants to change the color of the button illumination to match your other dashboard instruments, or for any other reason, here's how i did it.
look in your skins folder for jpgs that show the buttons illuminated (for example, MENU_ON.jpg) and open them (one at a time, or all at once - i think it's easier to open them all and get them all done, but YMMV...) in photoshop. using the box select tool or freehand select tool, draw around the buttons to surround them. go to the Select drop down menu and select Color Range. in the Color Range window drop down, select Reds. the preview window should show the areas you selected and want to change. then go set your foreground color to the color that you want to change to. then go to the Edit drop down and select Fill. the Fill window drop down will ask you if you want to use the foreground or background color. use the foreground (default) and click OK. your button(s) should now be the desired color. save the file under the same name. do this for all the screenshots that have illuminated buttons.
thanks to Cris for getting me started!
Well, post a picture of what you have done.
