mp3 names in Mediacar to include track nr?

    I have 20G of mp3 organised like artist\album\01 first track name.mp3.
Also I have updated all (!) ID tags and artist and album art.

In Mediacar it shows the track number twice I can search and replace all file names and get rid of the track numbers in the file names, but how would Mediacar know which track to play first? The option in setup 'use ID3' just crashes Mediacar so that is a no go.

Before I spend a weekend mass renaming 6000+ files, all suggestions how to organise my music are very welcome.

Mediacar displays files with either their ID3 tags in "Artist - Title" format, or they just display the filename (01 trackname" etc)

It doesn't display track numbers, but it DOES display the playlist number (which sometimes is the same as track numbers)

I organise all my files into "Artist\Album\Artist - Album - TrackNo - TrackTitle.mp3", and all my ID3 tags are OK.

To mass rename files, if they're all set up as you say, you can use Tag&Rename to easily rename your files into the correct format

Not sure what you mean with playlist number. Is that the queue of loaded tracks in Mediacar?

Do you get double numbers too? Since you use track nr in the file name.

If you didn't do that, it would garble the original album playing order?

Also with your naming, you run the risk of having more than 31 chars?
That gave me problems burning to dvd.

Now get back to your programming I'm gonna do some testing on tag 'n rename.

Yes, MediaCar adds "1. ", "2. " etc to the queue of tracks being played.

The only files I have had problems with burning to CD/DVD are files that have over 255 characters, ("The Presidents Of The United States Of America\The Presidents Of The United States Of America\The Presidents Of The United States Of America - The Presidents Of The United States Of America - 01 - Kitty.mp3" for example) but if you use Mode2/Joilet, you can have up to 255 characters, rather than the 31 character limit.

on the same topic, is there a way in mediacar to remove the addition of playlist numbers, for those that dont use tags, as most of my collection tags have been removed and there in "artist\album\01 - title" format... ?!?

    Dutch,

No, there is no way that I know of to remove the numbers running down the left hand side of the list, they are there however you choose to display your songs (ID3 tags or filenames)

You can set that first row of playlist numbers to 'black' in the .skin file. Or any other color that matches the background best.
