Question GPS / Music Volume Issues

I'm using WinXP, MediaCar, and Routis 2004. At first, it worked as it was supposed to ... when getting voice directions from Routis, the music volume would lower while my assistant spoke, then would come back to normal.

Well I think i screwed something up at one point, I think by closing Routis in the middle of a speach command or something. Anyway, the other day I was using routis, and during commands the music would actually get louder, then lower after the command (it was backwards).

So i thought to myself ... "self, maybe if you close routis during a command while the music is loud, then reboot and restart routis, it will be back to normal". Nope, now the music does fade or get louder at all.

I've closed media car, routis, rebooted, shutdown, etc to no avail.

    Any ideas?

haven't done that yet ... seemed a little extreme, and tedious ... was hoping i could avoid that

especially since i don't have a cdrom in the car yet and installing routis is no fun.

I've never had it lower the music while giving Routis voice commands. Is it programmed into MediaCar?

i dunno ... not sure if it's a function of MC or of routis ... haven't ran winamp and routis without winamp to see if it still did it.

Go into Routis. Don't take this word for word, comming from memory. Tools Menu, Volume Test. it allows you to adjust the sound level higher or lower. If that doesn't do the trick, change the individual input volume controls in the Windows Volume Control Utility.

    I know what it is.....

Routis volume setting controls wav volume and media car controls master...or is it the other way around? either way that is what is causing it.

it is your volume settings in windows. max out the wav volume in the windows volume settings. (Double click on the speaker by the system clock.)
Max out both master and wav to make sure you get it right.

i'll just max wav though ... if i maxed the master i'd go deaf i think

Oh yeah..I use a head unit for master volume. So I can max out master on windows. Heh, i wouldnt advise maxing out the volume if your hooked up directly to your speakers.
