i would love to get the source for it, and i think if he released the source it could be taken to the next level
Is there any word on the source code for this being released?
I've been working on the medial portal project lately. Came across all this mediacar and phonecontrol stuff and it's exactly what I want.
Now i'm caught between a rock and a hard place.
Media Car is made for cars, so it's tuned better for that application, but Media portal is completely open source and I can make my own plugins easily.
What language is MediaCar written in?
I read a post a little while back saying that he has been working on it just really busy with work
Hey, even though I've been watching the forum for about 3 months, it's my first post! Hi everyone!
Now that I've just irritated so many people with an off-topic hello ;) ...
I would also love to get hold of the source code, but I honestly can't see this happening. It's good to see that in this post http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/off-topic/32235-coyote-is-doing-fine.html Coyote kinda indicates he intends to continue work on MediaCar at one point, however, as indicated in this post http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/mediacar/32329-coyote-check-this-out.html , he's now selling OEM licenses to Karputer and making $$$. Releasing the source code could (obviously) compromise this...
Ah well, here's hoping! At the end of the day though, MediaCar as it stands is stilll AWESOME, especially when none of us has paid for it :)
Where did you see he's licensing it out? If that's the case, I won't be using it. It may be a good program but if it's not open source I can't make my own improvements on it and I don't want to be waiting on a one man team to develop a program or implement an feature requests. Looks like I'll be sticking to Media Portal with all the extra features stipped out and my own additions.
MediaCar showed so much promise too. What a shame. All this assuming it is being licensed and it will never be open source of course. Can anybody get any confirmation on this?
Yes there is a partnership with Karputer, and it's old news.
The post I linked to contains info about this and, as Pudge states, its old news.
