    GPS Navigation [newbie alert]

    Good Day List.....

    Excellent Work Coyote!!!!

I have read through the list and am wondering about GPS NAvigation.....

I see you talk about Mappoint..... Does this product offer Directions to the driver such as "Right turn ahead along with moving maps.?

Also I notice people talking about Destinator.... however when i look for destinator on google the only product i see is for destinator3 and appears to only run on windows pocket pc? Am i missing something.

Thanks for allowing me to post newbie questions.

    Welcome to the board......

Mappoint does not give voice instructions...I believe there is a mod that makes it work, but I haven't tried it.....Mappoint does track your location, and there are some pretty cool mods to make it a bit more GPS useful....

The maps in mappoint are pretty decent, imho, but others have had pretty good success with other programs such as copilot, etc...

I have used Mappoint in the vehicle for GPS, but I was using it on a laptop so I don't know how it performs on a smallish screen....

MapPoint sucks. It's the same as Streets and Trips... Which also sucks for gps navigation in the car. It's good route planning... but not much else. MapPoint only allows you to integrate data with the maps for business purposes. If you want turn by turn and great in-car navigation, the best bet is iGuidance 2004 (2.0).

voices is the mappoint mod that does trun mappoint into something very useful. It's the best GPS software you can get.

Vioce can be find on this baord and its free go but mappoint 2004 costs 200+. Time to look for mappoint on a P2P network.

Voices will support everything you mentioned above and more, like voice control,
