    ETA/ETR not being calculated correctly?

    I have noticed that when i have say 30 miles left to destination, and im going a good 70mph on the freeway, it says i have over an hour left. It will not go below an hour. Can anyone else confirm this? (going 70-80mph with 30 miles left should be like 18 minutes, not 1 hour and 10 minutes....) thanks!

    I have the same symptoms and I use advanced gps mode. It says my drive home from work is 1hr 50mins, when it's a 30 minute drive. 90% highway.

    It's because it calculates the ETA from the beginning of your last maneuver...so if you're on a highway you're going to have been driving for a while without making any.

    I'll rewrite the ETA routines yet again to calculate from your exact position. I'm not sure if it'll be as accurate because it won't be a true "road-distance", but rather a straight line distance...we'll see

    The way I have calc'd my eta/etr is by adding a timer to the project, when in routing mode this time is activated. Now every 60 sec's, what this timer does is recalc the whole route. this then gives you a new routing time, which I've found to be close to what it should be. You do need to build in checks, and also mute 'HER' so you dont get the normal 'depart' crap voice over..

    So on them clicking go, it saves the dest point, then I do a

    res = g_Dest.VoicePrompts
    g_Dest.VoicePrompts = 0
    Call g_Dest.CalculateRouteToCoordinates(routeend)
    g_Dest.VoicePrompts = res

    which cancels her voice, routes again, then enables her voice.

    Things like checking if the speed is less then 4 mph it doesnt bother doing the calc, chances are your sat at lights or something.

    I have also found that you would have to speed everywhere to make it in time of the eta first stated, so I found a better result was to do (res = res * 1.15) res = routetime btw.

    anyway hope this might help if you are still having problems. I'm still playing with the gps stream. I've created my own parsing function, but its freezing sometimes for some reason. Anyway hope this helps.. might put another angle on it.

    Cheers

    Steve

    a timer constantly recalculating routes? That's painful! I imagine that would make slower PC's crawl

    I've got it sorted now though, thanks anyway
