    Lots 'o' Problems

So I bought the $15 demo destinator maps for North America. I downloaded the Map Monkey 1.1 and the update to 1.2. I installed the Destinator console on my d: (my c: is a swap drive), I installed the Canadian map, but there doesn't seem to be any GPS/map software in the console, just installation tools. Then I installed the Map Monkey v1.1, it automatically installed to my c:, then when it tries to run register.bat, it crashes saying .\register.bat not a valid file (or something similar.) So I opened register.bat and lists three files to be registered, but the destdll.dll isnt in the directory it's supposed to be, so I go and find it in the mapmonkey ARM\whatever directory, copy it to where it's supposed to go, run register.bat and then update to 1.2. The update seems to do its thing without any problems. But when I go to run Map Monkey, I get that Error 429, ActiveX cannot create component.

Is there a problem with Map Monkey and my system not being on my c: ?
I tried reinstalling d3 and mapmonkey both onto the c: and I get the same results. I'm running a full winxp install, everything updated to about a month ago.

Is there a thread that lists the steps to go from the $15 demo maps to the download/installation of mapmonkey and get it working?

I also have a full copy of destinator 3 for europe that I found elsewhere if this would help.

You copied a DLL from the CD, which only contains PocketPC software (hence the "ARM" directory)

You need to purchase the DLL from sdk.destinator1.com, have a read of some of the posts in the main forum - you should find what you're looking for.

PS: Everything needs to be in C:\DestinatorApps or it won't work. Blame powerloc for that one!

So there won't be a valid .dll in the European Destinator I have? I thought I read somewhere that "the download" included a patched dll?

Nope, you have to buy a PC compatible one which costs $50

Also, i did tell a lie - it *is possible* to have Map Monkey / the SDK installed to another drive but it involves hex editing hard coded values in the DLL. If you do end up purchasing it give me a shout and i'll point you in the right direction
