    Site's working for me Puffy.

One question on the NES Emulator I've tested it on two high end systems (One with an 256Mb ALL IN WONDER 9700 and the other a 64Mb Radeon 9200) The video looks great but I can't get the sound to work properly. It sometimes sounds like it's skipping (the same way dirty dvd's do) in Mario Cart. Anyone else seen this problem. I'm hoping it's something with my ATI video cards.

N64 emulator was a nice choice. Anything older would have made the games looks to cheesy. The N64 games are small, have nice graphics and are easily available.

    Hey reddeath,

I finally got it going! Good effort! I forget, but is it totally skinnable?

How do I get GPS to work? I think I managed to add an app called "gps" to the launch apps, then I click the GPS button on the menu I see FreeDrive being launched, but it just stays behind the frontend...

About 640x480, I think you should drop it... I dont see any reason (despite what you have listed here) to force the display resolution to 640x480... If you want your frontend to use 640x480 as a maximum, limit that on skin size, not force the entire desktop, that is up to the user really! In my laptop, I got completely screwed because the res was dropped, and then not put back to the original.

on the xenarc, 640x480 looks even worse than 800x600!!! So I think you should retake this... especially considering vieo looks really distorted on 7 inch widescreens...

I'm still in the middle of building my mobile system, but I've been using it on my other computer and I like it a lot. The only problem that I noticed is that when browsing through a list of songs, the scrollbar cannot be dragged. It might just be me doing something wrong, I'm not sure. One of my favorite parts about MI is the ability to drag the scrollbar, not just arrows for those of us that have a lot of songs to search through. Other than that, keep up the good work, I'm definately telling my friends about this.

Thank you for your compliments, Im having alot of fun with this project and I have learned alot of different aspects of programming as well. Regarding the scrollbars, I figured most people would probably be using a touch screen rather than a mouse when driving, (me included) So the scrollbar responds to tapping, rather than dragging your finger down the screen. I figured it would be easier, plus skinning/animating scrollbars in visual basic is a chore and as you can see while the program plays song, then moves to the next song, the scrollbar doesnt follow, I haven't addressed it as Ive been working on what will answer your second comment. I have been working on integrating iGuidance and the Desitinator Front Ends into the program so that the audio control bars are still available. Here is what it will look like with iGuidance. I have just done some preliminary coding so far, but it seems to be a nice solution.

Im hosting this website at my house, and weve been having some small power outages now and then. This reboots my server, so keep trying to download if it fails.

I wouldnt think that you would have any issues with the Radeon cards, I know from past experience that the all in wonders can be challenging at times. I have had some issues with Emulators that play choppy sound and video, but it is just because the Game isnt fully compatible, Mario Kart plays a tiny bit rough on my P4 with 256Mb ram and a cheesy SiS 3D video card, I also have found that if there are alot of programs running in the background or on the systray, it can cause memory issues, and conflicts with Emulators. You can also change the settings of the Emulator by clicking on Options, then Configure Graphics Plugin, and make sure all of the settings are at 640x480 for full and windowed resolution with 60hz refresh rate, then make sure all the other settings have been turned off. This setup seems to run very cleanly for me. Hope this helps.

Mobile Impact is totally skinnable, its not like the other programs where you can move and resize the controls. The controls on the form are set in one position. If you look in the installation directory you will find a Skin Templates directory, that has little dotted lines where all the controls are located, then all you have to do is create a normal, hover, pressed and sometimes an audio screen. In regards to the resolution, here is an earlier post that explains it a bit:

I have been debating on whether or not to make it so that it runs at either 800x600 or 640x480. In testing with 640x480 I found that all of my other software seems to run ok with no issues. The non touch screen friendly GPS programs like Microsoft Streets and Trips and Delorme packages seem to be a bit easier to use at this resolution. The only issue that I have really found based on screen resolution was my Logitech web cam software cant run below 800 x 600. My test display is a T-View 7 inch monitor that I purchased from ebay at $200.00, so I consider this a fairly poor quality monitor and it seems to look better at 640x480, and it supports all the way up to 1024x768, which is its native resolution.
I also have tested many of the other Front Ends in this forum and found that many of their functions are difficult to perform smoothly on the road because the buttons or filelists are hard to accurately push as they so small.
-> I made Mobile Impact with every button and filelist larger so that they were extremely easy to select and the program was easy to operate.

The form is specifically sized at 640x480 and the controls arent movable. Ive played with some Direct X stuff to resize the graphics and microsoft has some neat code to resize the form and controls at runtime, but I ran into several unrezolvable problems. My graphics technique is as basic as it gets. I didnt use any active x plugins, no direct draw or any other 3rd party stuff, I just used the basic microsoft controls.

My developmental pc has a 17" lcd monitor running at 1024x768 and its native resolution is 1600x1200. When I run the program at 640x480 it looks really good. I tried to keep the graphics super high quality and color depth as high as possible as well. Im still trying to figure out an easy way to use different resolutions but all of the code that ive tried just slows the program down uncomfortably, but as soon as I run across something good, I will write it in.
