In fact this date format and specifically this date box is the sole controlling component of how the calendar identifies events and then shows the little squares on the dates where there is a scheduled item. Very few, ... actually scratch that -> nobody has given me any comments or even mentioned anything about the organizer module and I am very interested in getting feedback on its functionality and design. I know right now it doesnt have a reminder feature on it. But everything else in my opinion is solid. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.
And as always, i've just finished reading your response lol.... so...

I like the layout but I average 50-70 emails a day, the email system is very easy to operate but is quite messy... BUT this is becasue the emails i recieve are very header full. If i just read a normal email from me to sales then it is clean - So good job, ignore me cause i will just have to ignore my header crap lol....

The address book side of things is great and if you could do that link with freeDrive this would be even more awsome!! its excellent.

I haven't quite made my mind up about the actual organiser as it is ok. does the job. Fast. Clean. Smooth. Doesnt Scream Sexy but considering this is a free program you are making basically for fun, its great!!

One question is do you need to have outlook open in the background to recieve "new" emails or does this connect to outlook and force a send and receive?

You should set up a donate link on your home page you know.. Do you use nochex?

    Thanks Again

This is good stuff, thanks for the input. Setting it up so that all you have to do is find a contact and then click on "Map it" would be fantastic and I have actually completed an alpha of a GPS remote control program for iGuidance and I will probably work on this next, at the same time work on it with FreeDrive as well.

Actually what the program does is just download the current existing data from the outlook database. It doesnt do anything within outlook. It only downloads what is there at the moment. If you are connecting remotely with pop/smtp over the internet or something ; to get current emails, you would have to go in and manually hit send and receive. If you are connected over a local LAN where your constantly connected then if outlook is open it will automatically send/receive.

I appreciate the donation offer, I only have paypal right now. What I could really use right now is an XMDirect unit with the XMDirect custom cable so I can start to develop the XM module. And I also need to get my hands on a cheep iPod so that I can set it up so that it can play music right off of it.

Once extra thought, you could add an empty to clear out the emails stored on the database - so setting up a new emails database, then copying from outlook to the "car" database meaning you can delete as i now have 38 emails in my MI and cannot clear them without emptying my inbox and reconnecting....

Next, Does XM work in the UK, Is XM the same as "DAB" in the UK?

    Thanks for the response

infact a delete button in the MI that changes a field in the "car" database from 0 to 1 once it has been deleted then, meaning that MI wont show DELETED = 1 and when you import in from outlook a simple string to check if there are any messages with the same date / time details and not to import those ones so the originally deleted msgs wont be brought back in to life, by losing the "=1"

I know it sounds simply, open "car" database, copy "outlook" to "car" where Date/Time is different. Show msgs where delete=0 in MI. Press delete, in "car" set DELETE=1...

Something like that, i am more a php mysql programmer than anything else and have no real knowledge of VB...

Nope, no XM in the UK as far as I am aware. Actually you would be surprised at how similar VB is to PHP, alot of the same API principles and commands apply.

When you are in the Organizer module and you hit the download button, it actually erases and totally clears out the database of all records in the associated form and table. for example -> If you hit Download from the email form, it first erases all the records, then redownloads into the email table, ensuring that you are not getting any duplicates or additional items. So its never really synchronizing, its just a true download and replace. Here is a little thing that I wrote into the program to make life easier.

-> If you intstall Mobile Impact on the same computer that you use Outlook on; (Your home or work desktop computer), then open the program and hit download on all the organizer forms into the database, then copy the mi.dat file from the Mobile Impact install directory to some sort of removable media(floppy, cd, memory card, or thumbdrive), you can then take it out to your car, start Mobile Impact and click on the settings button from the main menu. Hit the Copy Database button, it will open a dialog to browse out to your removable media. Then when you hit the Ok button, it will automatically copy the file to its right place.

    Hi Again

thats a cool trick,^^ something to remember

Im not sure if i was talking rubbish earlier.. when i said about copying and deleting messages i see now that your whole script would need re-writing, as its not a database as such, more a file.... i meant copying and moving the databases so you could offer a delete function - not sure if most people would need it? For me it would be a nice add on so if you download all the messages say 40 now and read them all on MI you could delete maybe 10 and leave 30. now tomorrow when you click download in MI the 10 you deleted dont display as in the database they are marked up as DELETED=1.... but they would all remain in outlook?

its late here so i may be talking crap... or its early depending how you look at things lol....

I could add a delete button in the program that deletes the email from the Mobile Impact database(erased completely from database), but it would still show up in Outlook as there is only one way comunication with it. So it doesnt delete anything in Outlook, so the next time you download, it will download those emails again. It would take programming quite a bit more to set it up so that If it sees an email that was deleted or marked for deletion to not allow another copy to download, essentially what true sychronizing does. I dont know exactly how far I will be going with the organizer as I havent found anyone really using it. I plan on setting it up to have a reminder function in the future, and setting it up to function closer to a true synchronization might be my next step, I will have to see how it goes. My main focus right now is the GPS module-> getting it to go to that address from the organizer, the XM module, and the iPod/Media Player module. Thanks again for the input.

    Progress Update

I have the next version of Mobile Impact nearly complete now.

DVD Module: I have this finished, but I need to figure out how to hide the mini menu bar, then show it after clicking on a third party application. It has the ability to run on a 2nd screen with the press of a button. Hit the split screen button and the movie shifts to the second screen, hit the button again and it goes back to the first screen. This is done through Windows XP extended desktop. I intend to make it so that the driver can then go into the GPS or extended apps module and run other things on the first screen while the second screen goes on uninterupted. I also intend on setting the Media Player module do the same.

GPS Module: iGuidance now embeds correctly. I have the front end menus for iGuidance pretty much complete and have gone through quite a few bug fixes after this weekend, and will look for more in the next couple of weeks. Below are some screenshots.

Slider/Scroll Bars: I found an error in my calculations on my vertical scrollbars which caused some difficulties, this has been cleaned up and they run fairly correctly now.

Time/Date: I have added the time and date to almost all of the modules that it seemed pertinent to do so.

I will looking at integrating Phoco with the program and also making it so that when you are the Organizer module, in contacts, you can hit the dial contact button and it will dial them on your cell, or hit navigate to contact and it will transfer the information to the GPS to plot the navigation. I currently dont have a cell phone that is Phoco compatible, so until I can get my hands on one, it will have to wait. The organizer to GPS has proven to be extremely difficult, so it may be awhile before I can successfully complete this.

WOO HOO!!! The DVD module running over two screens is a GREAT idea, i need that and was worried that i would need to install a seperate DVD decoder to play via windows on screen 2 (The rear headrest screens)

One idea, can you make the time / date set by locale? so i can choose UK and get the date right or is it through the same system as the organiser so this cannot be done?

I have a phoco compatible phone so if you need a "beta" tester then feel free to ask me

    Keep up the good work!!!
