Thats a great setup, but I dont think it will work for you.
Does the same thing show on both the front and the back screens? If so, then it wont work. I have a video card that has both the vga output and the rca output and all it does is show the same screen on both outputs.
You can't do windows extended desktop with a single video card unfortunately. You will need to get a second card to get it to work. This is the only way it is possible with windows because it doesnt support anything else and Windows XP is the only thing that can do the extended desktop. The extended desktop basically means that the resolution shared between the 2 video cards is 1600 x 600. So in my programming when the user hits the split screen button then it tells the module to move the left position setting from 0 to 800. It will show in the 2nd portion of the screen which is displayed on the 2nd monitor. I hope this doesnt dissappoint you, but there was no other way to do this because windows supports nothing else. In fact you can do several different video cards and displays in Windows XP. Where I work, we have a department that uses 3 separate monitors all using extended desktop because their programs they use requires it.

The best way to do this is to use the onboard card and then add a pci video card. Or if there is no onboard but an AGP slot, then use an agp card and a pci card. The built in AGP video and the AGP slot are technically one and the same, so if you just put an AGP card in its slot, it wont work. All it will do is disable the onboard video and transfer control to the AGP slot video card. A PCI video card is the key. Some computers wont support multiple cards at all. It sometimes requires buying 2 PCI video cards and then totally dissabling the onboard. Sometimes it requires a bios update, this is somewhat rare however.
I hope this helps everyone understand how this will work and the requirements better.

Hi,

I have a Dual VGA output Nvidia card so that should cure that, It has a clone, or split screen setting so i can have a different output, i have the same card in my home system so i have 2 x 17" Dell TFT flat screen monitors showing 2 completely different things, but i can use the same mouse etc etc... this is the same i am going for in the car....

Version 3 of Mobile Impact is now ready for download on my site.
Here are the additions/updates:
(1) Added a fully internally integrated XM Module with 3 different modes to choose from.
(2) Integrated a Phone button that opens PhoneControl from the main menu and created a skin to match Mobile Impact.
(3) Created Menu's for iGuidance, so the on screen menus can be safely used while in motion, and fixed several bugs in the GPS module.
(4) Created an all settings module that the user can set all of the INI file settings.
(5) Added UK format date support.
(6) Added a Date and Time on every module.
(7) Greatly Improved if not completely fixed the scroll bars, and fixed several small bugs.

What about use foks that have miniITX systems? I have mine in a Castronic c134.. no internal expansion cards

Sorry, this is the only way to truly do split screen on a computer due to the constraints of windows.

Runtime Error Fixed in XM Module while in list mode...
Problem-> When in XM Module in List Mode, while it updates the artist and song title, it gets to channel 247 then immediately gives an error...

Run-time error '5':
Invalid procedure call or argument

Resolution/Explanation-> This was do to a missing line in the code telling the list to go back to station 1 to continue to update the listing. This is now fixed.

o.k., I know you have this hard coded at 800x600 and that you can get this to display another 800x600 on an external monitor....

my monitor is a 16:9 widescreen turned sideways.. I have a final resolution of 800x1280... your program opens fine & takes up the whole top half of my screen..... if I could get your second screen output to display on the second half of my display.. like at( x=801 y=1 start )then I could really use this.....

Ideally I would like the program to open on the second half (lower) of my screen & then have the spit screen display above it..... any chance of this happening?

I guess I then would have an extra 80 pixel band.. possibally dividing it between the spaces would make it look better..... if any of this is possible then please let me know what I could do to try this...

it can't be impossible, but maybe way to much work to do for just one request...?

When you hit the split screen button, it tells the program to move the form from the Left = 0 setting to Left = 800. What you need the program to do is instead of Left it needs to move the Top = 0 to Top = 640. Many of the other functions read to see where the form location is on the screen to perform, so it would take a bit of extra coding to accomodate your screen configuration. I would be willing to add the extra coding if there were enough interest. Please let me know if there is anyone else that is interested.

this is what I had in mind.... would be ideal..... I wish there were others who could use this too to justify you coding it.... this program seems real stable & fast.... I'd love to play with skinning it too.... already playing wit a few designs...
