Have the same issue, I believe it may be with the Interactual software, but I may be wrong.
Havent' had much success with DVD on RR either!
I have a cd/dvd rom installed with my truck computer. When I go through mobile impact to play the dvd, I get an error message. The dvd pulls up and the previews will play, but when it gets to the main dvd menu screen the movie will go no further. The buttons on the skin can be pressed, but they do not effect the dvd. Does anyone know what is going wrong??? thanks for your time...
I agree with Mobiteklink on the interactive software crap that loads. I think that this is causing it to have problems. I havent been able to figure out exactly what is going on, but I will be looking into it.Originally Posted by pierce-98
no. you need to have a software decoder installed to be able to play a DVD files that are protected. This is a key which normally comes with software such as winDVD or pwerDVD etc etc and once you have it any media player on your PC can play DVDs.
Ok, I have done some major research on this issue. I did a search on the internet and found a couple hundred sites that talked about Blah Blah it dont work, and Blah Blah its a codec issue. But nothing showing or vaguely indicating how to fix it or explain it. I did find a post in this forum that mentioned a test that you could download from Microsoft to check to see which DVD codecs are installed, which are compatible, and which codec is set as the primary one.
Here is the issues that I have found:
Issue 1: Before installing a DVD codec, windows media player attempts to play the DVD but just shows a black screen(this is an original DVD).
Issue 2: Able to play a copied DVD in windows media player runs fine without any codec being installed.
With issue 1 and 2 shows that Scouse Monkey knows what he is talking about, however look at issue 3, which I feel is the final problem!
Issue 3: After installing a video codec found in programs like Power DVD (my personal favorite) original DVDs play just fine in Power DVD, but it either repeats the problem where it just shows a blank screen or it just shows a totally scrambled display.
Then it goes to this:
Then Mobile Impact crashes.
Here is my conclusion: Windows Media Player is totally worthless for playing original DVDs. It will play copied DVDs just fine. I am going to take a totally different approach to the DVD player in Mobile Impact. I may just make it capture the Power DVD window or something else. I will have to work on it. Thank you guys for all the input.
I don't know if this matters, but I am using IntraVideo WinDVD7 software on my computer.....thanks for all of your help and comments, I look forward to finding an answer to this problem, and a special thanks to reddeath30....pierce-98
