Are you able to view the divx movies in full screen? I am having a similar problem but I'm also unable to go full screen without the lag in video, it runs ok in mini view mode though.
Red,
Ive been running the new MI for over a month now. The main features that I use are MP3, GPS, and Video (My daughter loves the Wiggles). My car has no trunk and I ended up using the Glove Compartment for my computer case. I dont have a DVDROM so I rip everything to DivX and place on the harddrive. I am running the following specs:
VIA M10000
512 MB Ram
40 Gig Drive
Anything I play DivX wise in Media Player gets the Video and Sound out of sync. The video plays at half the speed of the sound. Sound is completely normal. I read through several articles where other people had similar problems with other frontends and I followed the recomendations. I uninstalled the standard DivX codec and installed FFDshow. No Help, I downgraded to Media Player 9 from 10, No Help. I have turned off all services that I can and still to no avail. So I reinstalled the DivX codec and the player that comes with it. It plays avi, divx, div, tix, mp4, qt, and mo4. When the video is played in this it plays perfectly. If there was any way that you can embed the free DivX player from DivX.com, or any other any player that is less of a system hog I, and Im sure others would greatly appreciate it. At the same time if anyone has any recomendation on a way to get Media Player to work that I have not tried I would love to hear it.![]()
Thanks
Jason

"This bloke said to me you haven't got a clue about the damage the soap bar can do to you,
I tried to see things from his point of view but I couldn't fit my head up his arsehole too."
Just as a matter of interest what version of the Divx codec are you using?
I have had a number of issues with Divx in the past (I used to have Archos and iRiver portable media players) and I found that the later codecs would always have issues on those players.
I did find out that if I used the Divx codec 5.02 (I think it was that one or 5.11??) then I didn't have any issues, anything later then that and I had sync issues.
Have you tried seeing what happens with the xvid codec?
Have you tried installing the Klite Codec pack from www.free-codecs.com?
try using a different program to play your videos, i used to have a really slow computer (pII 450) and i cound not even listen to music because windows media was such a hog. so instead i downloaded winamp (although i am prejudiced against it =) ) and music worked fine along with some video. so i suppose all i can suggest is that you try winamp, or another media program that isnt such a hog.
I did try the DivX 5 Codec, Not sure what version of 5. That didnt work either. I dont think it was working in small mode either but I know that full screen is when it lags. I did try another program, that is the DivX player that is included with the DivX 6 codec and it plays properly. The problem is that its not integrated with MI, WMP is. Im sure Winamp would most likely work as well but its not integrated with MI either. I dont want to switch to a different Front End, I like MI.
Thanks
I would give the resolution that SimonD has recommended, it sounds promising. Because the program is purely Windows Media Player driven, I try to stick with things that run correctly with it. I had some issues with the DVD module and had to ulimately go to an external program, but for audio and video files, there are dozens of alternatives. The program I use even displays this problem on a select few original DVD's and some even defy conversion, so in many cases it may be copy protection.
My personal favorite program that converts DVD's into Divx/Mpeg4 format is a program actually designed for PDA's. Its called Pocket DVD and it can convert an original DVD down to a file no larger than 600 megs, with extremely high quality. It can also rip down to 128 megs in low quality. Go here:
http://www.pqdvd.com/index_palm.html This program is extremely reliable and installs its own codec which can be used with other video compression applications. In fact this program and the converted DVD's is what I used to develop the program. The price is $28.80 from the website and you dont have to have a PDA to use it on your PC. Give this a try. There is a downloadable demo that converts 5 - 9 minutes of the movie, Try it, and see if the sound and video is synchronized. Make sure you download the Palm version as it converts into avi where the pocket pc version rips into wmv and isnt as good. Hope this solves your dilemma.

I got a full copy of Pocket DVD and will give it a try this afternoon. Ill keep you posted as to how it runs. I have tried several different settings on two programs. I would love to find out that it was the program instead of the PC.
Red,
For the Pocket DVD converter, what setting for video size are you using. I have made three conversions and the video is so bad you cant watch them. I switched it to 24fps NTSC.
Thanx
I am using it at 464 x 272 , and then I move the Movie Qaulity & Size slider all the way to the right at the highest setting. There isnt any place to change from PAL to NTSC in the version that I use. I prefer the Palm version of the software because the quality ends up lousy on the Pocket PC version.Originally Posted by jbyers
