NEW VERSION RELEASED - XM and PHOCO Added - GPS IMPROVED!!!

Version 3 of Mobile Impact is now ready for download on my site.
    Here are the additions/updates:
    (1) Added a fully internally integrated XM Module with 3 different modes to choose from.
    (2) Integrated a Phone button that opens PhoneControl from the main menu and created a skin to match Mobile Impact.
    (3) Created Menu's for iGuidance, so the on screen menus can be safely used while in motion, and fixed several bugs in the GPS module.
    (4) Created an all settings module that the user can set all of the INI file settings.
    (5) Added UK format date support.
    (6) Added a Date and Time on every module.
    (7) Greatly Improved if not completely fixed the scroll bars, and fixed several small bugs.

    Just installed...
    This looks great!

    XM:
    Module looks and performs wonderfully.
The visualization restarts every few moments... slightly annoying.
I can't seem to set my presets, then again, I never could....(possibly my touch settings?).
Didn't resume from hibernate... a VBruntime error of some sort in the background. Had to plugin keyboard to fix....(reboot)

    Audio(media):
keep in mind, I've never used this FE before.
Seems to use playlists only? No ALL MUSIC mode....
The button to go back to home didn't work.... had to go to apps, then home.

Will post more as I find them. Everything runs very fast. I'm impressed.

    Thank you for the compliments.

The XM Module Visualization changes as the Artist Name label changes, so if you are switching in and out, or changing stations alot this will happen. It also changes several times when it first opens the module but settles down as the music plays on. Push and hold the desired preset button for approx. 3 long seconds and it will blink/flash and it will be set to the new station. You cant hibernate the unit, the XM Direct is in either the On or Off state. You must exit the XM module before hibernating or it will lose communication with the com port and give the error message. Its kind of a failsafe so the unit doesnt fry. -> There are several aspects of the XM Direct units, first they must be powered by a 12 volt power supply, then the software just like the Head Units turns the XMD -> On which it then starts to output the satellite signal from the RCA's. There is 2 ways to power the XMD Off, you can turn it off in the software, then turn off the 12 volt power supply(2 steps), or you can just cut the 12 volt power supply without turning it off, leaving the unit in the turned On state, so when the 12 volt power is turned back on, it floods the unit with power in the On position. I think that Turning the unit Off first, then cutting the power is safer for the unit, so I wrote the software accordingly.

Audio/Video Module, You should be able to just browse around to your mp3 files and play them directly from the file system. Go directly into the Audio Module, avoid going into the Playlist module directly unless your planning on going in, then creating a playlist, then saving and switching over to the Audio Module.

I appreciate the input-> all Good stuff, Thanks.

    XM:
    Presets
I will check my TS settings.... it(presets) has never worked very well for me.... on any FE
    Hibernate
edit: nevermind.... I read the post again and it contained A LOT more information than the
    first time I read it.....

    Audio
I keep all my files organized by c:\music\(dir)artist/(dir)album/(file)song
I wouldn't be able to do a c:\Music\* shuffle then?

I was reading in another thread you were talking about doing album art... is that implemented in this release?

    Once again,
    Nice work on this.

    Hibernate
I did not know that..... I will try that from now on..... you would have to shut down the COM port prior to hibernate for that to work properly?

Yes, exit the XM module to the main menu by hitting the Exit button, then hit the hibernate button.

Sorry, no it doesnt do directory recursion so you would have to do a playlist and then set it to shuffle or do c:\music\(dir)artist/(dir)album/ * shuffle.

Yes on the Album art. It has 2 ways to display Album Art. You can select album art only, so it will look for the folder.jpg in the folder you are playing files from, and if it doesnt find the file, then the visualization will run normally. The other way is to set it to switch between album art and the visualization. The default duration setting for switching is 10 seconds, but you can increase or descrease that in the settings. If you set it to switch, and if you hit the visualization to increase its size to mini bar mode, it will only show the visualization and not the album art. Again, good stuff. Thanks

This is absolutely the best software I have seen yet, I mean everything works perfect (for me), and installation/set-up couldn't be easier.
Only thing I had, was the volume didn't work in XM, the buttons go up/down, but the volume level doesn't change.
(of course, I should maybe read the .pdf?)

Yes, I ran into this too. It is the TS settings, it'll only "touch" for like 2 seconds. (Even though you kept your finger on the screen) Use a mouse to "hold" the button down, that's what I did.

    Little Bug in XM List

I get am error message in the XM listing mode... or regular XM listening mode (as the list is generated in the background I would assume, as I can check it and it has almost all of them listed, then I return to the regular screen and it still produces the same result)

It lists all stations... takes about a minute to load them all down the list and one second after it gets the last lines information....

    Run-time error '5':
    Invalid procedure call or argument

    And Mobile Impact closes...

I love the software BTW.... just hopped into the whole CarPC market for my tC, and have a Really nice setup developing.... Hope I can get this bug-free and running smoothly... then re-skin away!

FYI - Everything else works without a hitch....

Yep, some touch screens wont let you hold down too long. Regarding the volume, I have found that it is somewhat touchy, but it should work to a degree. Check to see if you have your line in enabled and also open the EQ and see if the volume changes there too.

    Troubleshooting....

If I start up MI and go in the xm standard window and Don't select the listing mode..... it'll go indefinately, no problem. but once I click the listing mode and it starts retrieving information, it's a matter of 1-2 minutes before it pops the error, as my assumption is the listing process still goes on and when it reaches the end, it produces that error...
