Did the whole computer actually lock up, or just what seemed to be the program where you couldnt do anything else in it? Did the mouse still move around etc.? It could be that the program didnt identify the alternate route screen or one of the menu's. Would it be possible for you to reproduce it and tell me exactly what you hit etc. Let me know Thanks.
As far as the standard menu's in iGuidance, I havent seen any hacks that were worth anything in the way of improving the menu size, but I havent really looked for a couple of months. Is there one out there that you can recommend?

The way the system was acting it seemed like it was the overlaying that was doing the harm, I constantly kept taking the wrong route to see how it was reacting and it just couldn't figure it out.
I know it wasnt iGuidance because I inmediately terminated MI and just used iG directly and it was working fine....
I can try to replicate the issue taking the same route again if you think it's worth it.
The reason why I say turn off the menu changes is because I've installed Justintime's .exe mod of iG (iGuidance Button modification (Centrafuse style)) and it works great, although I have to say that your version is far superior I really wouldn't mind not using it since the menus on iGuidance are much better anyway now.
Just a thought, there are a lot of people out there that use VIA's MII boards and if it locks up when using ur mod then it might be better to turn it off.

The menu's you see are actually parts of the form becoming visible, then hiding again. When the GPS form loads, its already loading every single menu component, about 35 or so, only hidden. There were a million different variations of the native iGuidance menu, and its very possible that I just missed the variation. When you hit a button on the modified menus in MI, it goes out and looks for the iGuidance menu, then moves the native iGuidance menu off screen where its not visible, then searches for the window handle and waits to find it; to continue to the next step. When it sees the expected menu, then it makes the appropriate MI menu visible. If there is something showing that is not expected, then it will appear to lock up. Like I said, if you can reproduce the sequence of buttons that you hit, then I can track down where its failing to find the native iGuidance menu.

Well, if I can reproduce the problem I will, I have a feeling that itz gonna be a problem though because I dont exactly recall what I was doing at the time; I just got a bit frustrated on how slow it got...
Maybe someone else reading this post will recreate the issue and let us know how/why ...
