Looks like MI is grabbing the COM Port which FD needs or the reverse. Try running XPort or similar and assign different ports to each, worth a shot.
Not sure if it's anything to do with Freedrive or Mobile Impact but thought i'd mention it here to see if anyone can shed some light on the problem.
When running FD within Mobile Impact and then click either HOME or EXIT (MI buttons) I get a window titled
MOBILE IMPACT
Run Time Error '8018':
Operation valid only when the port is open
Many thanks

What's xport - and why would MI need access to the com port?
The GPS reciever i'm using gives it's data via COM1 as it's a home made setup (I was given a gps module and a good friend wired it up so that the GPS data is fed to the pc via 9 pin serial and the GPS module gets its 5vDC power via usb)

Actually this is part of the XM module and this bug should have been fixed in the most recent release. Make sure that the Mi.exe file shows a data of 12/22/05. If not then uninstall the version that you have and then download and install the latest from the website.Originally Posted by percyt2k

I had the same issue, and it was fixed with MI's latest release...
YOu might have a serial port conflict.... IDK>??

Hmm, this may the be the issue then. What other devices do you have running from that serial port?Originally Posted by MobiTekLink

I said earlier - the data from my GPS comes into the PC on COM1
I amended the last part of the config.ini file to read
XM
Port=2
But I still get it

Do you have any serial/usb port software running like a virtual usb to com port type of thing? If you know how, please send me a screenshot of your running processes so I can look further into your issue. Thanks,Originally Posted by percyt2k

I think i've fixed it
I only had one COM port configured in the BIOS and I had XM pointing to a port that didn't exist.
I opened COM2 and pointed XM to that and it now exits properly.
I'll keep and eye on it and let you know should it fail again.
