    GPS on every module

So I think the next frontier would be to have GPS instructions and a basic set of icons to be shown while using web, music, etc....
My questions are: how feasible is it?? Is it something that is done on other frontends? Is it something that is being planned on MI?

You mean to have a set of buttons that show up on every module that has GPS, AUDIO, WEB, XM, ETC. Buttons?

If this is the case I have actually been toying with this a bit, and the only problem is that it takes up real estate. Then I though I could make it automatically hid itself after a small amount of time, then to make it pop up again, the user could move the mouse over to the edge of the screen and it would open up again. The only issue would be for touch screen users, it might be hard to slide the mouse pointer over. What are thoughts on this?

It would be difficult for touch screen users to use unless you had the mose over area extended out to where the TS users can slide there cursor over.

Agreed! How about a button that you hit to make it show and then this button would disappear when the menu bar showed, then the menu bar would disappear after 30 seconds or so, and the button would reappear?

I like that idea a lot, because I agree with all of them it's tough not having the same exact buttons on every screen.

I swear I posted something and it disappeared WTF?!

Anyways,,, I think the best way to implement this idea would be to have a minimal set of icons. Maybe an arrow with next turn-to distance and direction, in most cases that should suffice but if Red wants to get real fancy the cool thing to do would be that if you hit the arrow a mini version of the map would pop up, in a smaller, zoomed scale; where only the inmediate are would be enough...
If doesnt need to be much, in my case sometimes all you need to know is the distance of the next exit; if that can happen it would be of great help!

I thought you were talking about a strip of the same menu buttons on all of the modules, but your talking about having the gps in a window on every module right? If the gps is open and navigating in the background you will still hear the voice prompts if their turned on.

Oh, u mean having access to the GPS .... IDK... In my case I dont see it necessary, you have set the driving directions already and all you need is to follow the directions...
I personally find the voice rather annoying and a bit obtrussive... I rather "SEE" the info rather than listen to it... Maybe I'm going deaf but I can never make out what the hell they're saying...
Plus with car noise, kids jumping around , and distractions itz hard to concentrate sometimes on the road...
