*.M2V compatible

Can't you make the video player compatible for playing m2v files in the next version?

Try renaming the m2v file extension to avi or something like that and see what it does. This has been suggested for ogg files. Give it a try and see what happens. The windows media player component should be able to internally identify the codec needed.

Just give it a try and see what happens.

.m2v is MPEG 2 video, not really something you are supposed to be playing in a player.

its a DVD video file that hasnt been put on a DVD yet, you should convert it to something less CPU intensive (codec wise)
