Interface is sluggish?

Hey, I'm brand new to the site, and to the world of car computer modding, but I recently mounted a 7 inch touch panel in my 98 sonoma (dubbed, albeit not very creatively, the TruckPC). I was looking for a front end for it being as WMP10 was sucking massively at the task, and came across MMC.

Indeed, the interface and ease-of-use are gorgeous, but I am having some difficulty getting it to scroll in my library. It seems that when I click on the up or down arrows it takes about 3-7 seconds (depending upon whether I am browsing by artist, genre, or song title, etc) for it to move one screen down. I assume this is because MMC is paging and refreshing each name on the entire list as it shifts up or down? In any case, I am fairly frustrated by it as i can't seem to find any configuration settings at all.

The PC is a Pentium III with 512 megs of RAM, running on board video with DirectX 9.0c, and .NET 2.0 framework. The hard drive is a whopping 7.54 gigs (but enough to store my 1000+ mp3s, so I'm happy). It seems that the PC should be fast enough to run it.

I installed MMC on my laptop (512 megs DDR2 RAM, Turion 64 processor @ 1.8 ghz) and experienced the same problem.

Anyone have any insight or fixes?

Yes, I have found a few nasty bugs that made it out in the last build, one of them is what you are frustrated with as I am sure others are too. I plan on releasing a new build with a lot of fixes on May 15th, I hope this is not too long of a wait for you. Everyone has been waiting patiently and this new build is even better then the one you have, completely.

Just checking for an update on that May 15th release to see if it is still on schedule. I have been able to slightly reduce my problem by sorting by artist instead of song (my library grew to around 2500 songs this weekend) as it seems to cut down on the paging problems I was a experiencing, as (of course) i have fewer artists than songs. Still an issue, as pressing up or down takes about 2-3 seconds to register the input and change the screen. Hope the new release is out soon! Thanks for all your hard work, man, because this application is really making my TruckPC shine. Love the full screen visuals, too, they are stunning.

It will be sometime this weekend. I am waiting for some graphic updates from my designer. If I do not receive them, I will post what I have now to get feedback and comments.

Omigod, bit, its absolutely beautiful! Excellent job reworking the code. I have NO lag whatsoever browsing songs or artists or using the graphic equalizer or anything. Awesome job. I think i have an older build of the latest release, though, because there are still a couple of notable glitches (i.e. no power button), but the link to the download was down, so I had to use my three day old version. still, I love the clean, professional look of the interface. The blues match my interior accent lighting and my pioneer deck flawlessly! :)

Looking forward to the updated versions!
