yeah, bugmenot looks kinda useful
Oh yeah, not exactly an incisive piece of journalism though. sort of, oh yeah, there are these PC's you can kinda stick in your car. Very little research done.![]()
Are u guys finally free of all the hurricanes??, glad we never have em here (The Netherlands)
Hurricane Ivan is still in their area, but thankfully it looks like it's going to miss Florida. There is still the issue of power and internet connection that they have to deal with.Originally Posted by Maddog_rvo

If the codec is lossy, its quality is irrelevant. Significant data are still lost in the conversion.
Yeah, it's going to miss florida and hit my dad's side of the family in Mobile, ALabama![]()

Of course, hence MP3s are smaller than WAVsOriginally Posted by eatyummypuppies
My point is that there is a huge difference between a good codec and a crappy codec. Even I can tell and I'll be the first to tell you that I definatly DO NOT have a good ear for quality. I used to but inner ear problems prevent it now.
A good codec, and a good sampling rate is fine for me.
Actually, nothing is lost in compression with lossless codecs such as FLAC, or even better, Monkey's Audio (.ape).hence MP3s are smaller than WAVs
Dunno if this one has been reported or not but it is finally starting to get to me. I have a large database of songs. I go and pick an artist to play. Up comes all of that artists songs. I will be listening and then it will get to a song that isn't by that artist. Took me a bit to figure it out but if there are any duplicate names in the database ( same song name, differant artists ) it will play one or the other. For example, I am listening to Artist A with a song called Song A. If there is a Artist B with a song of that same name as Song A, but is actually Song B, it will either play Song A for both artists or song B for both artists.
Let me know if I confused the crap out of you or if you already knew about this and I just wasted my time by typing this up.
Thanks!
