I will be working on update releases all week. Hope to have one ready tonight. What are the most critical that you would like to see tonight? I will put in a visual switcher button like requested. What other things?
Are you having problems with slow down or lag? I use a TX3 and it works great in my car... just curious.Originally Posted by zijester

Yes I plan on writing a skinnin app, once the skinning underpinnings are 100% complete and flexbile. We want to allow users to build there entire interface custom, not just a few pictures here and there. We want to allow 100% customization of all screen layouts and graphics.Originally Posted by [iG]
As far as Routis.... is that a specific GPS software? Not familiar with it. If you can give me more info on it we would defintely look into adding it.

I don't think you should use destinator for this reason. I don't think everyone can afford Copliot so that wouldn't be a good choice, but I have heard great things about it. So Routis seems like the right choice.Originally Posted by antimatter

I sure would like to hear the general consensus on this. So far I have heard Routis, Destinator, and Copilot. What about Delorme Streets or MS MapPoint? I would like to hear what different GPS systems are used and how we should go about handling this?

I dont think CoPilot7 is the end of the story at all. Its maps are inaccurate and has no count-down to a junction. There are a number of ommisions in CoPilot7 that certainly put it in the top 2 GPS packages, but by no means is it a slam-dunk choice. There is the small point about not being an SDK also to consider.
CoPilot7 & Routis are my top choices, after spending a week with each package (Destinator, MapPoint...).
If you read the threads here, you will see this is like asking whats the best song, there is some concensus, but on the whole there are many different 'best' packages for GPS.
To be perfectly honest, I'm dissapointed in some ways with all of them.
Routis uses the same maps as my wife's car factory system, but the UI is not as good as the factory Mercedes system.
My needs are simple:
- accurate maps
- accurate routing
- count down to junctions
- good uncluttered, non-distracting graphics
- touch screen friendly
- hot chick doing the voice prompting, Cameron Diaz would be a choice voice.
If it has web enabled updates and can differentiate between a gas station that does diesel and one that doesn't then thats just topper!
