The RIAA has no standing in this regard. It's the same as making tapes off the regular radio. Even if the direct digital compression weren't possible, you could always just record it as WAV and compress afterward.

    And this is some bull****...

Everything gotta be tracked and traced. So if you record a track, and your buddy likes it, so, hey, you give him a copy (ooh... so evil), and he shares it, you're busted. Hell, if you record some tracks, burn them to CD, lose the CD, someone finds it and shares all the tracks on it, you're screwed. It's as bad as that crap they were trying to get passed here in California where your email address has to be attached to any file you share.

    Talking Upcoming new XM product

We have been working hard to make an even better solution. We are now making a software solution that does what the DirectPCR does. At the software level it will translate all PCR commands to the Direct and Commander. This will allow a simple install of our software and any frontend software the supports PCR to work with the Commander or Direct

We will try to keep it very competitive in price.

    Thanks

    Talking XM Magic Byte Codes

Well everyone... someone has sniffed basically what originally was something we figured out. That is how the tech world works

Here is the magic byte codes to get the XM Direct and Commander units into a PCR mode Once this is done all original byte codes for the PCR work fine...

You send 3 commands to the commander or direct and then it will accept all original XMPCR commands.

They are the following, sent in this order:

    5AA50003740001740D
    5AA5000474020101740D
    5AA50003740B00740D

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks

If that is the case, then after shooting those "magic bytes" through some batch file, we should be able to call/use any SW with your cable. Yes/No

    MMC505: Cant get XM Working

I love the interface that I see with MMC, now I just want to get rid of that PCR software... I've tried the latest version and everyone seems to have it working with PCR, but I cant seem to get it to work. I set the COM port to the correct one in the MobileMediaCenter.exe.config and I get nothing on the screen when I hit XM...

    anyone have any ideas?

    thanks much

    -Andrew

a couple questions....you are using an xmPCR right? alpha 5 rev 5 will not work with the xmDirect

i know this sounds stupid.....but did you click the power button next to the band?

we are posting the last and final alpha tonite or tomarrow which will support both xm recievers
