Everyone's audio system is a little different. I've got many MP3's that are just a touch too heavy on the bass, and I have to turn the volume down to save my speakers. I'd rather set up the song for my car once, then forget it. And if one of my friends would like to plug in his USB key and swap music (legal ones of course ), he/she won't have to worry about copying any of my permanent tweaks.
I will make it an option and make the volume level tag the default. If someone wants normalziation they will have to turn it on

Talking Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone at mp3car.com. Thanks for a great year so far of comments and feedback on the MMC software! Without it I would not have made it this far.

I will be away out of town until Friday night. I will get back to all posts made up until then on Friday night.

    Take care!

Actually, I was refering to normalizing my entire collection with a third party program. I've tried it with miserable results. I find that normalizing doesn't just simulate turning up the volume, but it tends to normalize depth as well, leaving you with a very flat sound. Something more like an auto-gain would be better.

I dont think iTunes does normalization. It just makes sure all yer songs are the same volume.

If you have to turn down ANY music on yer system to "save the speakers" yer audio system needs some tweeking. I mean u dont have songs that are actually clipping, the HU (or yer audio source) makes them clip when u turn the volume up.

Deep bass blowing speakrs means the gain on the AMP was too high, the song was clipping as a song file not from volume control, and then of course yer **** was up too loud. BUt if u tweak yer audio system right, nothing will ever blow. And I mean that in two ways, BLOW yer speakers and BLOW as in suck.

    Which would you rather:

    BLOW?

    or

    SUCK?

    No Memory

Really a rev 7 and 8 buggie or annoyance. When playing music. And shutdown app normally (or not normally) when I reopen it and go to music mode, it will have no memory of what song was last played and at which location it was left off at (ie, 1min into song) Same goes for videos.

Also, I noticed in Rev7 a lot of funky sidebar issues where the Scroll Indicator bar is not in the correct position or dissapears completely until i click the up or down buttons. Ie. Go into visualization mode and back makes the indicator dissapear. Goin from one album to another will not cause the indicator realign, but takes the position of the previous window.

Sorry, you are only partially correct. I have an awesome PPI amp, and no HU. The speakers in the car are fairly basic and I plan to upgrade them next year.

The problem is some tracks are perfect at 100% volume, others are a touch too loud, a couple have a little too much bottom end, and others are just too darn quiet. $10,000 speakers aren't going to change that.

search for a program called MP3gain

i use it on all my mp3's

its normalizes the mp3s without re encoding them like alot do, it just adds some code to the mp3, and the normalizing code can be romoved from the mp3 also with this program too if u dont like it... its pretty quick too.
u can normalize each mp3 to a set level or normalize an album to a set level. so the quite songs on the cd stay quiter to the louder ones and its all leveled..

i normalize mine to 95dB, the progerams standard is 89 but thats way to soft..
most mp3 i get are around the 94- 100 level anyways.

    edit: check this out http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/

I'm playing around with Rev 8 as we speak and I noticed something. I have a few Albums in MP3 format where the tracks should have no pause (the songs are all mixed), but there is a small pause/break between each track. The transition should be seemless. I'd rank this low on the priority list, but I wouldn't ignore it. It's getting closer to perfect.
