have you run the first alpha before, if so try uninstalling both and dot net 2 and run the alpha 2 installer again. also check to see if you have any Virtual cd roms and disable them. Hope this helps.

    Talking Status Update

Just a little status update for all of you using MMC AR2. I have intergrated video and DVD along with the Music player. On the menu now is just a Media button. All music, video, and dvd playback is controlled in one screen with easy access.

We also have 6 quick access buttons at the top of the play list now. Songs, Artist, Album, Genre, Video, and CD / DVD.

I also started on code for Webcam support. I should have this done in the next day or so.

I will post Alpha Release 3 most likely tonight or early tommorrow morning. I am adding an error log file so that when the system crashes you can upload the error log file to help us fix bugs.

    Skinning

Some have brought this up. You can skin MMC right now to some extent. The goal to our system is to have it totally flexible where the user can build all the screen how they please with our screen builder software.

That is not the case right now. If you look in the "Membranes" folder, you will see a Default.xml file and a Default folder. This defines the skin. If you look in the Default folder you will find all the graphics. If you just copy that folder and rename it, copy the xml file and rename it. You can then modify the graphics. Just keep them roughly the same size.

Then if you open the .config file in the root folder and change the name of the skin from Default to yours, it should work.

Like I said this will be cleaned up and much better, but this will at least get you started if you want to modify the look.

    Thanks

I went for a drive tonight and gave this a workout. My only complaint is that when searching through artist, there isnt a back button. Its kind of annoying to go through the whole list again to get back to where you were at. Other than that, it worked great. No problems at all.

Yeah the back button deal is an issue we are aware of, our fix to that is that each quick access button will memorize its last state (Page, Selected Item, etc) So if you choose an artist, you can hit artist again and it will be on the same page you left off on...

We are happy to hear it worked out otherwise for you though. Thanks for the feedback! We are working hard to make it better. Sometimes it feels like 24/7.. lol

    Talking New Update File

Here is the lastest update. You will need the base install from the very first post in this thread then apply this update.

We have an early state error logging system, it will create a statuslog.txt file in the root folder of your installation. After running the system for a bit and experience problems, especially with the database building, please post the statuslog.txt here as an attatchment.

Make sure to delete your Media.xml file and run MMC to rebuild your music database. We are testing new features in the DB.

    Thanks everyone!

Very nice software. The visuals are pretty cool. Need to check out the others.

    - I would like to see an "ALBUMS" button for the music. I've got over a 1000 albums. This would help.

    - How about the ability for more that one media path. For example, I've got one folder for each of the following:
Albums, Single MP3s, Music Videos, Divx Movies, & DVD Rips.
I have been able to figure out how have more than one path. If I put just the C: drive, I think, the software tries to catalog everything (which has made it crash several times).

    - The ability to change visuals on the fly would be nice.

    - More info when looking at Genre. Just shows the title. No artist info.

    Hi.
Why do I get an error message everytime I try to play something. The error message is identical to the error shown in post #100.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I do not have any virtual drives. And I have tried deleting the media database but still get the error.

    Please help
