When our system builds your song list from the specified folder, should it look at ID3 tags as the primary source then folder layout? Should this be a preference? What are your thoughts?

preference.
Being able to change how the thing acts as an enduser is always a very good thing.
I love the visual. Going to try out the player in a minute. Been looking for a good visual for a long time now.

Alright so I installed and played around with the alpha version. A few suggestions/bugs/whatevers:
Is there anyway to make it so it doesn't have to build the music database every time it starts up. I have 9000 songs so it takes a bit. It isn't too bad but still kind of a pain.
Scrolling is terrible. Definitetly need better scrolling.
Is it supposed to be able to play DVDs yet? If so it didn't work. Just made the screen flicker a few times.
Anyway you can make it so when you press a button, the button looks like it is actually being pressed down? Can never tell if when I press the button I actually pressed it.
It looks really pretty cool so far though. Can't wait for a fully working release!!

Yes definitely need to look at the tags. I don't know about anyone else but i don't think the physical directory layout is important. I mean mine are set out as ARTIST\ALBUM\TRACKNAME.mp3 but all the info is in the tags, so there is no need to base the info on the directory structure. When our system builds your song list from the specified folder, should it look at ID3 tags as the primary source then folder layout? We are, will have and forever will be...
But not tommorrow!
I know Ben is about to release an update shortly with alot of fixes.... the dvd playback does work... there are a few known bugs on playback of the dvd...if you go full screen it is very smooth....we are working on the flicker prob....also you will probably notice subtitles are still on during viewing....that is because we are writing in a line 21 blanking into the code.... direct x by default will play all lines of video....a few hotkeys you will need to know for now....(s)stop (f)fullscreen (p)Play/pause (alt+f4) closes window
the database building will be done manually or if the program is turned off and back on.....so ideally if you were using this in a vehicle, the power button on the screen will be able to be configured to put windows in Hibernate...when it comes back up you wont have to build again...if you add songs you will go to the main page preferences and update database... its this way now because we are testing and need to close out of mmc and reopen..unfortunately we have to build the db reopening
My problem with it is that it plays a different song then what I click on. I got lost in the genre, artist, album buttons and couldnt get to anything I was looking for. Nothing under the artist folders. I click artist and see 3 different ways to spell an artist, check under each folder and there are no songs. Then click genre and see a list of songs. click the song and it plays something else.
All in all, as far as, the music (tagging, directory structure db building) goes it should be exactly like frodoplayer. That handles it all absolutely perfectly. You only have to build the database one time and after that it is super fast. The whole thing is very very fast and works like a charm.

Oh, and another thing. Can you make it so it hides the mouse cursor when the visual goes fullscreen. Thanks
